Springs vs Coilovers in Canada

I'm thinking of getting the sportlines for now and when I do decide to track my car then i'll get coilovers.

I'm not paying your car, but definately consider Pro Kit vs Sportline since it's your all year long DD !!

Pro Kit definitely sounds like your best option.
Used to have them on my 01 Prelude which I DD'd as well. Hell, even went on snowboard trips with them.

Better solution:
Get Sportline kit, and spend the extra on a $1000 winter beater and alternate insurance on cars. You still have to pay fire and theft on the other car while it is stored, but that is usually offset by the multi-car discount.
- saves mileage on your toy
- keeps your toy looking top notch
- easier to work on non-wintered cars (you can rust proof all you want, but the bolts are still going to rust)
- higher resale value
- more practical space (can also use as a workhorse as required year round)
- better handling during the winter (assuming you buy some old FWD like a Civic or Corolla, or better yet spend more and get an old Impreza)

I think that ! Sportlines and Koni Yellows on my MZ3 and a better prot for the winter !

Future note: if you plan on DD'ing with coilovers, I would spend the little extra and get KW V1 instead of ST. The only difference between the two is KW's Inox coating (which someone mentioned above), but this will save you from the awesome sodium chloride which our government is so keen on supersaturating our roads with.

Not bad, just a harsher ride as a DD. My BRZ is a DD and I'm pretty set on getting the Pro-Kit.

Planning to lower mine with sportline using stock strut,shock and wheels.
and won't change my rims for an year.. (until next year tax return lol).

any busting shocks or something terrible will happen with this setup?

I used my stock struts in 20000km on my old car (they already had 15000 but still) and I then switched to Koni Yellows and had no problems.

Hey sorry I'm late to the thread, but I'd like to suggest you DON'T do this, and just get coilovers to start with.

I have sportlines on my car, on stock struts, and I gotta say I'm not really that happy with anything other than the drop.

The ride is pretty terrible and you can tell the stock struts are not up to the task of damping the relatively short and stiff sportlines. My old car had coilovers with stiffer springs and good quality dampers, and it was way more "controlled" than my FRS is now.

After that car I vowed I'd never just do springs again, but for some reason I did, and just like I thought I'm regretting it.

If it's a money thing, just save longer or wait on the rims.

Don't forget you're also going to need LCA's no matter what path you choose.
