That's a good point. I only ever take the car out as a play thing. But yeah Milage and daily use are a key factor.

Someone today was telling me that 91 in Canada is the same as 93 in the US. Has anyone else ever heard this?

Esso 91 almost exclusively since I have a few hundred dollars of fuel cards to use. I tried Petro 94 and there wasn't any noticeable difference in performance and the cricket noise was very loud. I haven't tried Shell yet but will if I run out of the Esso fuel cards.

I was running esso 91 when my car was tuned. I'll have to let LJ chime in to say why it's bad but I think it just doesn't seem to have the same resistance to knock

Well there's your problem, the consensus everywhere is that Esso gas is pretty much like running your car on pee
![]() I'd like to see a comparison of Shell 91 or Petro 94 to what's available in the US, I would imagine it stacks up really well.

Interesting reading this thread.
I've been running Esso 91 pretty much exclusively because of the locations of the gas stations on my commute. I haven't noticed any issues at all. It may be worth noting that I have been running an OFT tune from nearly the beginning as well. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. |

Shell 91 here is crap, I only run esso. Put a tank of shell 91 in my buddy's truck with a 11:1 400 small block and it pinged, Turned the timing back and it was OK. Refilled with esso and set the timing back where it was before shell and it ran fine.

In toronto, Ontario i used to run Shell 91 V Power until esso came out with there 93 octane and i switched to that. idk if its just in my head but the throttle response seems crsiper with 93.
