Just picked up a SWP Limited!

Just picked up a slightly used 2013 Limited in SWP this week and I'm super stoked! I can honestly say I look forward to driving places again, which hasn't happened in 8 years...



Already trying to resist the urge to start modding her... about to pull the trigger on an OE style diffuser.

I've done some research about the chirping noise coming from the fuel pumps, but haven't been able to find a definitive answer about if the dealership has come up with a permanent fix. Is there one yet? I don't want to waste a trip to the dealership only to have the chirping come back.

Dealer came out with a new fuel pump that wont let the chirpin noise come back again. I had it changed a couple months ago and I havent heard it since.

Just bought my brz in jan. Called up 2 dealerships in miami and they both told me the same thing. Replacing the fuel pump under warranty will only be done one time.. And if it doesn't fix it you'll have to live with it .. Said that it works for some and not for others. I've also read that certain fuel brands will cause it to chirp.. Don't know I use chevron and I don't hear it very often.

Dealer told me the same, they will only replace it once under warranty. Luckily I havent heard it again. Its annoying lol

Wrong. The latest revision on oct 17 has been failing and a new fix is apparently "in the works". Chirps for me everyday now just took longer.

Too the op, I wouldn't go to the dealership and have them do mechanical work on your car for a temporary fix. Some users post that a "failed" pump will actually stop once you've put a few thousand k on it. Mine has definitely been going down consistently since it's climax.

Alternatively, you could put a cap of no ash 2 smoke oil in with a fill up to temporarily cure them.

So your crickets have been are gradually going away? How many miles did you have to drive for the crickets to subside?

A good amount, 10,000 + after you I heard the crickets they started to get better, now 20,000 and it's noticeably better.

Could be anything though, fuel brands (ethonal a definite suspect), environment, etc.

Just remember it's not actually hurting anything, and if you sit idling in traffic all day or something and want them gone, a cap full of 2 smoke oil for temporary fix.

That's what I figured. I'd rather not waste a trip to the dealership only to have the problem resurface again. I'll wait until a permanent fix is developed.
