I wonder what that can be... so when the new stuff arrive we can bring our older model 86 to have the same upgrade?

IT sounds that way but Im sure it will be at a cost of course.

probably interchangeable stuff. suspension tweaks, improved factory tune to address torque dip, new wheels and bumper? things along those lines. maybe some weight reduction. that's probably it.

Didn't think they made 25k worth of TRD parts...

It's not the parts themselves, it's import taxes. A lot of European countries heavily tax cars in general to discourage driving.

Wouldn't it be awesome, if we could just download the new update or download some HP. Free download, 210hp. Ha.

would like to have an undercarriage upgrade, remade shaft, retuned suspension, better brakes (brembos front and rear as in BRZ tS would be a very delighted upgrade )... a bit restyled bumpers... taillamp scheme change... and better response A/T... and maybe... modest power upgrade.. say a lost in torque lump... or an increase of 5-10% BHP

Weight went up a bit. There were no increases in HP or performance. All the stuff could be bolted on the earlier models.

Let's see if history repeats itself as it so often does with Toyota.
They also raised the ride height 1" to meet pedestrian safety regs. That and the weight gain made the early years most desirable for serious enthusiasts. Could it happen here?

Interesting what's happening to North American pricing. The Monogram represents a substantial price cut factoring in content. Who knows is it's a trend, the upcoming TRD Special Edition pricing will tell.

My worries are about the future of the Scion brand altogether. There's been threads full of speculation that in the past I blew off as sensational until yesterday. Scion corporate district manager positions were eliminated as they rolled everything into the Toyota side where the Toyota district managers consider Scion a sideshow to their main objective, volume. Nobody was fired, they're doing other corporate jobs, but combined with TMS blessing dealers wishing to voluntarily terminate the Scion franchise gives pause about the future of the Scion brand.

We could be driving orphans or collectibles, I'm not sure which, but Tada-san's plans give hope that FR-S will continue for at least one 6-7 year product cycle with continuous upgrades.

Maybe some changes in LSD, tuning, etc... with a tad of facial update?

They might ditch Scion (though I doubt it), but the people who were saying that they would discontinue the car don't understand the automotive industry.

They have already spent the majority of the money in development. The worst case for any car is that they leave it basically untouched, refusing to spend more. There is no way any car company would stop building the car after only three years, unless it was getting Murano convertible sales numbers. I think even that abysmal failure is still hanging around.

Since the car is basically a marketing exercise - and because Akio Toyoda is a sports car fan - it is no surprise that they will keep it fresh. It loses its value to Toyota if it looks bad. The only question is how much they will upgrade it and how long we will have to wait for a top-spec version, which usually comes in the middle/end of the run with Japanese sports cars.

You would have car about 100lbs lighter and ready to track right out of the box.

I disagree, simple fix when pretty much everyone wants to drop springs/coilovers on them. The latter MR-S had the added chassis bracing stock and reinforced front upper mounts that were known to fatigue or fail prematurely under heavy track conditions. Plus the looks were just better all around imho, but that's subjective. Plus they added an LSD as an option and the cat of death was fixed.
__________

Hope they improve or replace the Subaru wheel bearings too. Utter garbage.
