Drift. Everywhere.
It's honestly not that bad. I bought mine in the 4-seasons areas of the country, so I didn't get the michelin's - I got the even less grippy in the dry bridgestone a/s tires. They are not that bad in the snow, actually. Starting is definitely an issue (uphill is awful and ridiculous), but once moving the balance of the car is great, it turns well (between hands and foot you'll never have a problem rotating, lol), stops reasonably well too. I don't think it's unsafe or reckless since control is not the issue. You may get stuck, but i'll doubt it'll crash out of control. But again, t/c off... Drift everywhere at 16 mph. Pity the florida folks who don't get to do this ever. |

Drive it. Snow tires and plowed packed snow is win.
Snow driving is some of my favorite driving. It's the transitions that suck with the sloppy wet diarrhea everywhere. |

With 16" WRX wheels 60 A/R tires aren't recommended by tirerack but I bought them anyway, they fill in the wheel gap and raise the car just enough that it clears a solid 6" unplowed snow. That small inch really makes a difference as this is such a low car stock. So a heavy snow storm doesn't make me nervouse at all.
Ice is awful though even with the snow tires, you just have to drive real real slow. I don't know if studs are legal here but I may look into it next year. Also the car takes a terribly long time to warmup/defrost. Gas milage really gets hurt in the cold. But the main thing is its practically a performer in deep saow with tall skinny wheel and weight in the back.
