Of all the reviews I've read about the Genesis coupe none were as great as the BRZ/FR-S. Most actually said they would spend more and get a 370z or mustang/camaro.

THIS.

If I were in the market for a 3,000+lb car, well, I'd stick with my damn Audi because it blows every other car out of the water! But I'm looking for something light, quick and focused to replace my aging MR2. The Gen coupe/370Z/Mustang/Camaro are too big, heavy, and unrefined for my taste.

None of them mentioned the Camaro and I read all of them. The only reason the reviews mentioned the Mustang is because of pricing being closer to the 5.0 base for a 3.8 R Spec. The Z on the other hand is more sharper but the others are more powerful.

4.8 seconds must be a mistake. That engine sounds like it came right from the Sonata turbo, which also weighs about 3,400 lbs. I’m pretty sure the Sonata turbo is about 6.2 seconds to 60 mph. Even with a manual transmission and a strong launch, it makes no sense the Genesis Coupe would be 1.5 seconds faster to 60 mph. As already mentioned, 5.8 seconds to 60 mph is plausible.

Way too many people are focused on numbers. Drive both cars and make an educated decision.

I have driven a 2010 GC 3.8 without the track pack, and it was a decent car. However, I didn't find it to be an exciting car ride. It looks great on paper, but for me it wasn't something I would have enjoyed driving day in and day out.

My STI on the other hand has been an absolute blast to drive from day one. It is like one big roller coaster ride. Not necessary for everyone, but it was what I found so attractive about the car.

A. The redesigned GC is hideous

B. It has possibly the worst manual transmission I've ever driven: it can't shift smoothly, revs hang b/w shifts, rubbery feel. It's awful.

That's some healthy rollout they're giving the 2.0T apparently.
