I "knew" when I owned a S13 240SX from 1996 - 2010. This car was a "new S13" as far as I was concerned.

Melbourne

While walking home from a late night at work, I saw a Satin White Pearl Toyota 86 parked off of LaTrobe Street in Melbourne and it was love at first sight. It took me another three weeks to figure out exactly what the car was (I took a picture on my phone), but when I learned it was the famed Toyaburu, I was hooked.

When I moved back to the States 6 months later and needed some wheels, I headed straight to the Subaru dealership. I initially was going to order a Satin White Pearl one, but when I saw it in WR Blue (the only one they had at the dealership) I fell in love. Here's a pic from the day I bought it outside the dealership:

I always wanted to get a S2K or Miata.

They were too small for me.

Plus I don't like used cars.

86 came out.

And I knew it was the car that I have to get.

I got it. Couldn't be happier, really.

I love to get up in the morning to go to work because I get to drive the car. LOL

I knew when the final design was released. When I first got my 95 impreza coupe I made comments about wishing there was a new 2-door subaru, then found out about the twins. After graduating college I went to work for 5 months, within 48 hours of being home I had my BRZ.

And two things made my decision to go with BRZ over FRS.

1. No, I refuse to pay MSRP.
2. Limited trim options.

I first test-drove the FR-S at Scion's First Drive event, which was basically a narrow autocross. I was impressed with the handling and dimensions of the car, but like you, was not 100% sold on it. I placed an order with my local Scion dealership with the requirement that my deposit be completely refundable.

The day my FR-S arrived at the dealership, I first spent the morning test-driving a Porsche Cayman S. That was the other car I was considering, and I drove it for 2 hrs in every environment I could (backroads, highway, city). I walked away liking the Porsche a lot, then headed over to the Scion dealership.

The first drive in the FR-S, I knew right then and there. I turned and looked at my wife, and she was like, why are you smiling at me like that? It wasn't so much that the FR-S was better than the Cayman S, but rather how impressive it was for the money in comparison. I bought the car on the spot and haven't looked back since.

Mine was more sudden than contemplation. I knew about the car very well but didn't have any desires to buy it. I had a base RSX and I wanted a WRX at first. I had driven the WRX a couple of times already so when it came time to buy it I test drove the WRX once more and I felt convinced. Then I saw the BRZ on the lot (first time in person) and fell in love with the looks. I asked for a test drive and when I first sat in the amazing sporty seats, I knew it was going to be a special drive and indeed it was. After my test drive suddenly the WRX felt underwhelming. So I traded the RSX and chose a SWP that my dealer had. An impulse decision but im happy to say one of the best in my life!

The seat, driving position and controls all do feel perfect. I have someone who wants to buy my Altima for $6k. Heck I signed up 6 months ago for the subaru VIP program in anticipation of buying one. I've been driving it in gran turismo all weekend.

I want this car... Something will just not let me do it.

I knew before they came out.

My research led me to this car years before it was out. I looked at the miata and really didn't like the idea of a convertible plus it seemed kind of expensive for a new one, although I considered used. I just couldn't see myself with that car. Might have ended up in one if the 86 didn't come out.

Also looked at 370z but I didn't really want the v6, seemed heavy and rather small inside despite that weight.

Genesis coupe didn't seem to have much aftermarket support when I was looking into it and it wasn't that new of a car. Seemed kind of a "meh" car to me.

Briefly thought of mustang but I thought to run that car would be too expensive because of the size and power and mods I would end up doing to it.

When I came here and found out I could get a car that handles well enough for me to not modify the suspension from the factory that was almost all it took. Add on it looks good, has fold flat rear seat that makes the interior practical for bringing gear to the track, and the aftermarket was gearing up even before it was released.

I knew it was the car I wanted so the day they hit the states I was out buying mine.

Always enjoyed tuner cars and modding. I was perfectly content with my RSX until I saw a red FR-S in a parking lot. It was extremely unusual - Brand new, classic Japanese, and friggin' begging to be driven.

Always been a Supra fan but I have to admit, I didn't hear this one coming as most of the enthusiasts had. I looked up the story of the platform and decided I had to be an early-adopter.

I had test driven: WRX, Dodge Dart GT R/T, cruze, camero, Veloster, Genesis. I chose the BRZ because it 'sat' just perfectly for me. Everything was spaced perfectly for the controls, it was really comfortable at 9-2 hand position (the other cars did not make it comfortable for me), the seats fit me perfectly. It also felt the most 'sports car' like out of the bunch to me. I liked the feeling of literally sitting on the ground while driving it. I like feeling the road when I drive. It was just the best get in and drive experience I had ever done. Put in my order the same day.

... when I heard about the limited 10-series having the GT86 LED headlamps and most of the sport-tech features from the BRZ limited.
I bought the car without ever getting into any FR-S/BRZ... I simply made the decision based purely on internet reviews. Still don't regret my choice one bit.

My roommate's friend traded in his 3-series for a BRZ. The first time they brought it over and i saw it in person...it was love at first sight.

I knew I wanted one from the beginning.. like when they still had the concept cars. I knew it wanted it to be my first new car for a long time now. It took a lot of time and multiple times to the dealer to actually do it but I finally did. If you are 99% sure then what's really stopping you? Are you just going to sit around and then someday think "maybe I should have done it?". For me it was mostly difficult just because I've never had a car payment before. It's quite a change of lifestyle for me, but I'm glad I finally did it
