Custom Front License Plate Mount

I didn't care for the OEM front license plate mount and I didn't want to pay $50-$80 for a relocation kit, so I made one for about $8.

I had already installed the OEM kit, so I made this one so I could reuse the same holes that were screwed into the front grill.

Not much to it other than some bent aluminum, some tapped holes, and a little paint. See below for pretty much the whole process.

First, bend length that plate will secure to:

Couldn't get the bend I needed with my bench vice, so used an adjustable wrench to bend out the legs that will secure the mount to the car:

Drill clearance holes for attaching to body and drill/tap holes securing plate to mount (I used 1/4-20 screws):

Trim legs of mount and round corners:

Mount to car:

I'm in the process of painting the mount black to blend in more as we speak, so I'm writing this as it dries.

I was thinking about doing something like this, however I have a concern.
Does it look weird being at an angle like that?
../
.// <-plate
/

I was imagining I could put a similar piece behind the bottom of it so that it would be like this:
../
./|
/

Sure thing, hope these help. I don't think it looks weird, personally. It follows the angle of the grill for the most part. But everybody has different tastes.
