So this whole thing might turn out to be a good thing! J/K... glad you're OK and that you seem to be recovering from it.

As for the rain and RWD, just take it easy :P

In my experience, insurance adjusters have been honest and fair. I totaled my show Civic back when I was a teenager, and the modifications never came up in the conversation or how I drove the car. I got a decent payout. Where modifications do come in is when you claim them to be insured. If you didn't claim your modifications, they'll assume everything is stock. Note - if the car is totaled, remove your mods as much as you can and put back on the stock pieces, so you can sell or keep them. They will not allow you to remove parts once you receive a check from them. The autobody shop I worked with allowed me to give them stock items, such as wheels and exhaust, and they removed the modifications for me. Not sure if that's changed within the last decade though.

Sorry about your car. I know how painful it can be

Sucks dude. Hope you're okay. I was in a not at fault accident two months ago and it's being repaired right now..
To have the car totaled the repair $ would need to be about $17,000-$18,500.
Mine had no suspension damage. It seems like your Q-panel needs to be replaced.
1 Quarter panel replace and repainted is about $5,000.. Considering you have suspension damage and major unibody damage... I'd say you have a 50/50 chance of being totaled

Thanks to everyone for the support. AAA just called me to say the damage was very extensive and definitely pushed my car to being a total loss. Sad for sure but it was the best outcome for me in this situation.

I'm praying that the settlement with the total loss department will be fair for me as certain mods I couldn't pull like tint, roof wrap, etc.

I'm heavily leaning towards considering the BRZ but it is too early to tell. Thanks all

Good luck with the settlement with the insurance company. Glad you weren't badly injured from the accident. From the images, it looks like it could've been much worse.

If you've never sat in a BRZ before, you're more than welcomed to sit in mine! The mission isn't too far from where I live (Emeryville, CA).

Sorry to hear about the accident. it happened. the good thing is that you are ok. nothing can replace you.

i knew how it felt cos i totaled my first car too, upside down, but i got out (through the broken back window of the integra) unharmed, very much alive, with some minor bruise. was surrounded by first aids, firefighters and police officers but they let me go to work instead of going to the hospital. it happened about 45 minutes from home, and i had been driving for about 8 hours till that point.

so don't let yourself down because of the accident. stay positive and hope the insurance gets you a car soon.

Thanks everyone, you'll be happy to hear it's 100% because of people like you that made me want to stay in the BRZ/FR-S twin family.

I'm proud to say that insurance is helping me out, totaled out the FR-S. It's definitely bittersweet, but I got hooked up on a brand new, fresh out of its wrapper (in front of me!), '14 SWP BRZ. God is so good!

Anyhow, take it from me and drive safe. I'll certainly be taking it easy and relaxing with the mods (I hope) on this car and try to enjoy it stock for some time. Thankfully I have my original mods at home-home in LA.

Love y'all.

Nice! Good to hear insurance worked out well for you.

I'm surprised the car bit you so hard with VSC Sport on. That mode has always kept the car too far in line for me, to the point where I wish it would give a bit more of a slip angle. Tales like yours scare me away from using full TC Off while driving spiritedly, knowing that the car can bite you even in the less aggressive mode. But I suppose wet roads are a whole different story, especially when you account hidden oil slicks that cause you to lose traction instantly, and TC will only do so much in a situation like that.
