Taillight condensation

I've got my car garaged and only take my car for spins when the weather is nice and haven't really parked it outside for long periods. I'll probably continue driving like this for a while since I've got another beater car that is reliable.

Under what conditions does taillight condensation show up? Parked overnight? Or when you just go cruising on a chilly night?

Whenever water is present (rain, washing). It runs down the back window into the trunk channels, under the tail light housing and assaults the gaskets.

The stock gaskets eventually leak. Search the threads for a permanent fix.

Last thing you want is getting pulled over for a shorted out tail light when you got body bags in the trunk

If I end up having same issue then I'll just go ahead and order the TOM's tails

ALL tail lights are affected.

Some aftermarket tails have a better sealing gasket, but eventually they leak because of the constant water erosion (as in the Grand Canyon).

The solution is to divert the water flow away from properly sealed gaskets.

Thanks for the heads up. Thought maybe it was just a defect on the seal for the OEM tails.

It sort of is... it's the factory lights being installed/overtorqued, and the plastic cracks under a constant cycle of heating/cooling from the outside elements.

The "fix" is just torquing the bolts to a lower spec with new taillights, but unless they redesigned the housing this problem may eventually come back. A more permanent fix is outlined above, but could possibly cause warranty issues if you're still under the basic warranty.

silicone works great and comes off easy if you need to apply it to divert water away
