There's a few good threads on other sites with instructions on how to get GOOD logs for accurate Virtual Dyno charts. The long and short of it is that you NEED a good flat road as the starting point. The consensus on how to tell is to take a log in each direction and see how close they are.

I have used a text editor, I can't make it work to read past 5k rpm. It's getting annoying. File Attached. Have a look please. @wparsons Last edited by Victor Draken; 03-04-2014 at 10:42 AM. |

i've run virtual dyno against a log i made while on an actual dyno, and the results were within 1hp. i'd say it's pretty damn accurate when done properly.

If you're using it just for tuning purposes the road doesn't matter as much as long as you always do your pulls in the same direction. Your chart will be skewed from someone else, but it'll be accurate to past pulls/charts and it'll show you if you gained or lost power with whatever you changed. @Victor Draken, I don't have virtual dyno here at work (or my working logs). I'll have a look tomorrow when I get home, not going straight home tonight.

i'm in florida, so it's pretty much all flat. i just put it in 3rd, stab the throttle wide open at 2.5k and run it out to redline. gives me nice repeatable results every time. pretty simple and effective really. great way to tell if what you're doing is helping or not, though i agree they're pretty much useless for comparison (then again, so it every dyno that isn't a dynojet).

For anyone having the RPM stopping short issue, I found a fix. Change all of your throttle position values to 100. VD has an issue where it assumes non-WOT below a certain value (not sure what the value is or how to change that yet, im working on it). All of my TP values were hovering just above 90% above 4k or 5k rpm and it wasn't plotting those.
