It was one of the first examples of the AVO kit and suffered from the flaking ceramic coating. I had to pay to have the headers returned to thailand to have the ceramic coating reapplied. When I asked about the flanges I was told that they were within spec. I also didn't have the heatshield and I assume that I have the older style bends. So I also ordered the heat shield from AVO I admit that my kit was purchased second hand having done approx 3000km's. However it was professionally installed by the previous owner and ran the 5psi wastegate. I have no reason to believe it was mistreated or overheated. So far I have used copious amounts of copper silicone and forester turbo gaskets and have not noticed any leaking. Whether this happens down the track is the question mark. I certainly don't have any issue with the kit from a design perspective and like the low mount design. I also don't mind the size of the turbo at the moment and like the boost threshold. Of course I'd also like ability to grow later. (bigger bb turbo please AVO) When I had to send me headers overseas to be re-coated it would have been nice of AVO to have said, "Hey, you have an early design header, why don't you save on the ceramic coating and put it towards the new style" which has the benefits you mentioned above. TL R I like the kit, would recommend it to people. Can make a significant amount of power but does not allow much in the way of future growth. (Unless that Billet wheel has some magical properties)

What's this talk about a heat shield? I don't recall seeing one. Does anybody have a photo of what it looks like? I haven't installed my kit yet so I'll look through the parts again.

If it's a newer kit, it will be there. It's basically a rectangular piece of metal with a bent edge. It bolts onto the bottom of the block, between the turbo and the engine.
Maybe check beside the styrofoam stuff... I didn't notice 2 small bags wedged between it and the box.

Uhhhh... I don't think that's there on my car. Is that shielding the cam sensor from the turbo because the guys at PTuning were concerned about that...

Yeah, it's supposed to be shielding that stuff. I was thinking of ditching the heat shield and just using a turbo blanket

When did the heat shield become part of the kit. I got my kit last summer (~June), so it was part of that round.

I am using that as well as a turbo blanket. Seems to work well. Will find out soon as summer approaches and I finally get on the track. |

Yeah I have one as well - I think mine was installed in May or June of 2013.

The new AVO 3" turbo outlet pipe and over pipe, that is currently being fitted to my car
![]() ![]() Together with the AVO 3" cat pipe, complete with hi-flo sports cat and flex joint: ![]() This is going to be mated to the Ultimate Racing 3" axle back I already have on the car, with a new cat back front pipe (including a resonator to hopefully reduce the sound levels abit), which will also improve the ground clearance under the rear crossmember ![]() ![]() ![]() Final welding being done ![]() Next power mod (once Adrian the Fensport boss man has developed the mapping on his race car) will be the new AVO stage 3 billet turbo, together with forged rods and pistons ![]() I must say, the new turbo, having seen Adrian's one yesterday, really looks the business
