No. Those fender vents don't have any access to the engine bay.

I used a dermel to cut the fenders and the fender garnishes. Ugly but very functional you can feel the hot air exiting by just placing your hand over the vents. I installed seibon dv hood and it helps hot air leaving the engine bay

I'm considering doing the same cutting of the fenders, but I'll be retaining the fender garnishes which will also be tastefully cut out as well.

Reviving this thread to see if anyone has any updates on the effectiveness and testing of carbon hoods or fender garnish vents on cooling engine temps. I'm interested in the Seibon VS or DV model hoods. Also, i'm wondering how much rain would get in through those vents. I also read somewhere that the Seibon hoods come with trays to protect from the elements, is that true?

It does help with underhood temps quite a bit, but I do not have any data to support this. Seeing the heat waves flowing out is good enough for me. My coolant stays between 195-210 and oil 195-220. But I have FBM Oil Cooler and Radiator/shroud/SPAL fans.

As far as temps are concerned, what is considered a normal operating temp for both coolant and oil, and what is considered overheating?
And does anyone know if Seibon offers optional rain guards. I've read online of people having them but I can't find anything. I'll look into the Varis hoods and see if I find a style I like. |

Coolant you will throw a CEL at 240. Normal operation is between 195-225. You can call Seibon directly for rain guards.

I really want functioning side vents. are there no vital parts behind the fender garnish? or is it safe to cut the whole part behind it? a DIY would be awesome..

On one side is the battery, on the other a brake booster. Hot air rises, if you're not forcing air into the engine bay I don't see how side vents will really help. IMO probably not worth cutting the fender.

Ironsquid, do you prefer the Varis hood that has the small scoop with the vents over the one that has only the vents? How large of a difference does that small scoop make you think?
