Your summer beach body is forged in the cold of winter.
I'm a vegetarian as well, so most fitness diets are not for me as they are based on A LOT of meat-based protein. When I did the P90x, I was a meat-eater so I followed the diet exactly, but boy did I ever get sick of turkey.

I'll check out Beast. Thanks for the tip!

That's awesome! The only DVD I don't recommend is the yoga one. As a yoga teacher, I can hardly follow what he is saying. Plus, some people are to aerobic sounding for yoga If you're looking for weights, get the PowerBlocks- they are amazing!

Thanks! When i first started the yoga it helped with my flexibility and back issues. But as time pressed on i decided to just go for a run as an hour and a half was just wayyy to long.

The P90x yoga is too much. It's too fast, it's too difficult, it's too aerobic. True yoga is about long stretches and stillness. I would recommend a 45-60 minute gentle DVD or local class instead, BUT it's vital to keep flexibility as you build muscle. A flexible spine is a forever young spine

Theres a lot of protein alternatives out there. Egg whites, soy protein, tofu, milks, beans, broccoli. Hell, you can still take whey, thats just derived from milk. It's not hard getting big, ripped, muscular as a vegetarian, Unless your're a vegan in which it's just an ego factor. I'm a vegan bodybuilder, yea thats right i got muscular without eating meat. Bragging rights really.

It's a great workout, and a basis (calories, macronutriants) for a diet, but it doesn't have vegi suggestions. I have been working on building a vegi diet plan for 5 years.
I, actually have never eaten meat. I'll be happy to share what I've learned. Though, calories needed, metabolism, and taste preferences are different for everyone.

Tip: I've tried many many protein shakes. The best, in my opinion, is Plantfusion chocolate. It is not dairy based. It is very gentle on your stomach and doesn't cause unwanted bloating.

Hi I'm 24 years old I'm skinny with a small beer belly (that will get bigger) 5'11 175lbs. I am active at work (walking, up and down stairs, some lifting) but I live a very lazy lifestyle outside of work and I don't eat very good.

Recently I have been wanting to change some of my bad habits.I am trying to eat better and start juicing fresh fruits and veggies.I want to start bike riding again and I would like to start working out (I never had try'd a few times but never lasted)

What I want to ask is there any good workout plans that I could do at home with no or little equipment? I would like to do this first because if I could stick with this for awhile and if I do good with this than I will join a gym instead of joining to not go(like I have done before)

You're already doing well by slowly changing your lifestyle habits. For myself, I've found that dramatic, sudden changes have awesome short term effects, but unless strong-minded, one returns to their old ways. Doing it slowly allows it to become a new lifestyle, rather than a diet.

For working out, again ease into it with realistic shorter-term goals. Personally, I've done the P90x program as well as the Insanity program, and they work well, but after a few rounds, I've found I'd rather buy a Groupon for a group exercise class instead- it gets me out of the house, surrounded by like-minded people and is easier for me to stick to as now I'm accountable- if I don't show up, people ask Check out some routines others have done- good, real advice here, but you're already off to a good start. Any activity is better than no activity. Today I went for a 1 hour brisk walk full of hills and pushed myself to keep the same pace uphill as downhill.

Another tip that I now live by as it keeps me on track: write everything down, so you can see where you came from. I used to workout just to workout and it was fine, but I had nothing to refer to. Also, take photos along the way, and weigh yourself. After month 1 of P90x, I lost 5lbs. I've never been a large girl, but 5lbs was depressing until I saw the photos and what 5lbs looks like. So take some photos, print out a calendar, take your basic measurements and keep us posted

I like fitness, ask me anything

I tried EC Stack to lose some weight and I must say WTF, even a bit scared... I started going to the gym and light jogging 1h 4 times a week, I kept eating normally (maybe reduced a little but I'm definitely not only eating vegetables) and in two weeks in a half I lost 19 pounds... Could it be dangerous or since I was so fat I lose it way quicker (what my friends seem to says). I'm 6'2 and started in mid february at 273, weighted today at 254.2... Any advice is appreciated, I really want to start taking care of myself and although I feel and see results, that much in so little time/efforts scares me... I take 72mg Ephedrine and 600mg caffeine daily.

Yup, this chicks got it down.I would also recommend tracking your daily food intake. I use myfitnesspal. Although it can get tedious and on some days i just don't use it. It does help in the long run.

I also wouldn't recommend getting to into working out religiously as it usually causes someone to burn out on interest. One of the main reasons people stop working out is that they treat it as a chore. I found it fun. Tried to best myself every week. You don't really need to work out that long, i've been going for about 40 minutes for my main body part im working out for the day and stay another 20 mints for cardio type stuff. I really don't need the cardio but i love to eat and i get hungry way to fast. It's so i can eat that extra handful of peanuts when i get home.

If you're not willing to buy weights or a gym membership you can start out light. Do some light body workouts when you wake up in the morning. Some push ups, pill ups, sit ups, or light jogging. Get the body running. Eventually when you want to change it up a little go to your nearest park and start working on some more body weight excercies using the jungle gym. Theres a lot of awesome info on jungle gym weighted exercises that you can try out each day. Just give each body part at least 48 hours of rest.

Not sure about the Ephedrine but i would probably drop that. As for the caffeine intake, 600mg is like 6 cups of coffee. If you're burning it off well than I'd say stay on it. But if it's starting to cause you to crash at night or get addicted to it in the morning, i would either drop it's intake or lower it. I've been off of caffene for awhile, mostly my pre workouts (250-300mg.)

As for the weight lost, i really don't know if you're losing it in a healthy way or not. When i was taking a food suppressant/fat burner, i lost about 20 pounds in 30 days. But thats because i was only eating 1 bagel, cream cheese, and some veggies a day. Not proud of those times and i would never do it again. But you're a big man, and when you start to feed your body what it's true calorie intake should be, your fat should start to melt off. Best results with exercise assistance. What also may happen is if you lose weight in a substantial amount of time, most of it can be lean mass. Since your body hungers for nutrients gained from breaking down muscle vs fat. I'd say but the cardio down to about 30 minutes 4 times a week. If you're a heavier man and you really start to get physical, you weight should start dropping in a negative exponential weight. Meaning your going to lose a lot and it will start to slow down. Give yourself some goals like, ok im 270, i want to be 250 in a month and a half (very possible.) And after that, ok ill aim for 235 at the end of this month, than about 225 after next month. I'll be at around 200 in 6 months. These are just some numbers that i made up, see what works for you. The road is very long, but possible.

I have trouble with sleep but its due to constantly variable shifts at work.. And I wouldn't mind going down to 30 minutes, but its weird since I never feel exhausted. Like i feel in shape but am not at all. I'm not a big man, its mostly fat, but I know i'm not eating only a bagel and carrots, i've kept eating pretty much the same as before, starting with a good breakfast, a regular dinner and a somewhat small supper. Its really a weird physical state, but I dont feel tired nor starving (i just miss the midnights snacks) but am wondering why I am losing so quickly and though maybe it was Ephedrine (a proven but dangerous for the heart fat losing ingredient)...

Yea it's pretty hard for me to determine whats going on from you unless i know your full body stats. Weight, age, height, gender, even ethnicity works to a point. Also if you wouldnt mind labeling an average day's food. And active rate.

19 yo white male, 6'2, 254 pounds, comes from a family of "big guys" (tall, muscular and fat haha). Average day food, yogurt with cereals and berries, a toast with pb, sometimes eggs, sandwich for launch with cheese and stuff, and whatever floats your boat for dinner, whether its a steak, pastas, Shepard pie, anything basically. I go to the gym every 2 days doing two sets of muscle for cutting and an hour jogging at 5.7 mph.. I don't know what else like i said i currently take ephedrine and caffeine but used to take carnitine, green tea extract and such. Most of my fat is around my thighs and ass. I'm a relatively strong guy, played as nose guard on the d-line (was captain of the team, so not a bad player )... Pretty much all i can think of...
