If the tires are old you may want to buy yourself some "traction v" or other traction compounds that basically put the oils/chemicals back into the tires that naturally leave heat cycling or sitting. I'm worried they be so hard it will be worse than a normal tire.

They are heavy, so ultimately they will just slow you down. If you are asking if it is possible to run them, however, then the answer is yes.

They won't slow anything down unless he is way off on size. So while a 285/645-18 is probably slower than a 245/40-17 due to the gearing change with oem power I don't he's going that big.

stock suspension is too soft for this much of grip, you will have alot of body roll, and you cant rotate the tail as good as street tires. for autocross, there is alot of tight turn and its better off to power over some of the turn.
but the simple answer is yes, but you just can't learn more and run a better time, thats all. |

Too bad there is no way to "downvote" posts on this forum. Just about every other post is just plain wrong.

Give 'em the fingernail test: if you press firmly with your fingernails and the indentations (assuming there are any) are slow to disappear, then they're probably good to go. Hard to imagine that they will be, though, unless they've been in sealed plastic bags the whole time they've been stored. Do what you can to get them hot before you run. If they're hard, it'll still be fun, as well as educational. Just for grins, I took a 435 RWHP M3 out to an Evo School on rock-hard 345 A6s and had a terrific time sliding around. It's certainly much more demanding car-control practice than when you're properly hooked-up at the rear. |

they're tires, there will be no issues
grip is grip, and your old and cheap hoosiers will probably perform okay, so you're not gonna be setting any blazingly fast times. the question is, what do YOU want to get out of the tires?

I was hoping to get some nice highway pulls on them.
![]() Seriously, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to flip the car, lol. I don't have any experience with Hoosiers, and wanted to make sure everything would be cool. I'm not even sure that I will be running them at all this year, as I'll be using a set ZIIs. For $150, I thought they were worth picking up and maybe slapping them on for a test and tune or an out of town event. |

consider them as testers for what it feels like to drive a car on slicks not that you'll find competition if you choose to go that route...
