Bill,

I have the canned tune from KW from their S/C kit, but I am thinking I’d likely be very interested in getting your updated 91 tune for the kit after having spent some time with the factory tune (which I understand was tuned by Delicious as well).

I believe my question has more to do with ECUtek and how the flash licenses work than anything. I am confused as to what I can program and how often. Once I get my S/C installed [hopefully this Sunday], I will load the factory canned tuned from KW which I believe will drop my “Remaining Flash Licenses” from 1 to 0.

As for my ECU programming noob question: If I purchase an updated ECUtek tune from you (or another tuner), I’m assuming that would bump the tally back from 0 to 1. Do I have the freedom to switch back-and-forth between the various tunes (stock, KW factory, and updated Delicious 91) as many times as I wish? If not, seems to be a lot of money to pay to not be able to switch between the tunes that I’ve purchased.

The license is tied to the car not the tuner. You can go get a tune from anyone else and the license will still be valid. Ecutek reads it before attempting to flash your ecu.

So after my initial programming where my license is forever tied to the ECU on my car, I can program the ECU as many times as I wish as long as I have the .bin file?

You can, yes, but there won't be any reason to switch back to the KW "factory" tune

Lol no, the only computer check they'll do is for stored obdII codes. What you may have to worry about is the visual inspection bit.

@DeliciousTuning

I am very new to the whole tuning world, and just purchased a GT86 last week.
In the near future I want to upgrade the power on my car. (Currently saving up)

Having done my homework, I want to use a super charger due to exhaust norms in europe, power distribution, etc.

Currently Kraftwerks seems to have a great, reliable system that works on a stock GT86. Creating enough horse power to have fun, but no need to upgrade other parts.
(Such as clutch, fuel pump, injectors, exhaust)

How comfortable would you be doing a remote tune if I were to use the EcuTeK data logging kit?

I would be running 95 RON or 98 RON.

I am unable to find dyno-tuning places in Europe that have experience with the GT86 or the Kraftwerks SC.

I look forward to your reply or any tips you may have.
If anyone else has tips, please let me know by PM.

Thanks.

All pricing is on our website.

But it is something I will look at a little more as it is a common problem in every vehicle.

Is your base package (cable, license, remote tune) starting with the latest B01C factory stock ROM. IMHO its important because 2012 build owners have waited almost 2 year for a OEM approved RoM flash. I don't think they would have delayed that long without something important added. Also the letters sent out about the B01C specifically referred to idle dips.

Sorry for my delay. Big things are happening and just trying to get things are sorted out for the year; shop, products, development tunes and scheduling. I am currently booked out through April but trying to open up some more days. More info coming soon.

I will be looking at messages and email a little later tonight. Got to spend some time with the family once in a while.

Cheers,
William Knose

Remote tunes on the Kraftwerks kits are pretty solid. With the tunes we have they basically drop right in and we can refine the tune bit for fuel and altitude, but besides that they are pretty good right off the bat.

The Kraftwerks kit on our development car is pretty "kick-ass". I definitely would recommend the kit in respect to the power delivery and good low end torque.

We are actually working on updating all our tunes to the B01C ROM's but have not seen any issues with the current A01C tunes, as this takes care of the DI problems early owners had in their vehicle.

The B01C is for the new models and I would think it is not as an important update (more driver friendly tune) versus the required A01C update every needs to do for the DI failures that were occurring.

The base package does include the license, cable and map and if requested I can definitely move the tunes over to B01C files. Like I stated they are still be converted.

Cheers,
William Knose
