I was staying away from a Toyota developed engine. Be funny to see what would happen if some did as I suggested.

Along with 9 other approved engines. Again... my statement is in the context of the thread. Flat 4 in a build-from-scratch design prototype is dumb. If OP wants to argue F1 or Le Mans (assuming LMP1 or LMP2 classess), then that's where my post rests. Don't get me started on DP... ALMS and Grand Am merging is the biggest mess in motorsports right now. -alex |

I don't deny (and actually embrace) the history of flat engine motorsports achievements.. huge Porsche (and Le Mans) fan here. Each engine will have its pros and cons. You and I are on the same page, I'm just writing my post in this thread and trying to stick to the original discussion about "what's good about Subaru" and the whole "no F1 blah blah the flat engine is the best thing since sliced bread why not use it more blah blah" discussion that OP keeps on having. -alex |

No, it's not going crazy yet
Low CoG, can get more power out of 3s I think, you don't like boxer engine. I think, you're shame of boxer engine. If you really like boxer engine, you would swap it |

Not just bang for the buck, but a really, really good AWD system. Out of all the systems I've driven hard on a slick surface (which includes the Porsche Cayenne and Panamera 4, several Audis ranging from 1991 to the present, BMWs xDrive, and a couple of Subarus), I find Subaru to handle the best. The way it distributes the power makes it very predictable and controllable on a slick surface while getting great traction. I wouldn't trade my Outback for just about anything on one of the snowy days around here.

The newer boxers are a bit of a pain to work on because of the amount of other crap that has to be in the car. My 95 is stupid easy to work on, engine pulls are pretty easy.
