Tried to go do some sliding in a massive empty parking lot at a local fair ground, was immediately approached and chewed out by some fuming, aging hippie in a golf cart who made up a bunch of shit about, "I'VE SEEN YOU IN HERE EVERY DAY THIS WEEK TWICE A DAY" and then claimed he was "taking down my licence plate number," and if he ever saw me in there again, "using it as a race track" he was going to call the police.

What a fucking shitlord. Fun facts:

- I have been there exactly once since I got the car, and it was a stormy night a couple of months ago and nobody was there to see me at all.

- I was there a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday around noon with my mother in her 1970 911, teaching her how to use non-ABS brakes and how to make a 911 grip through corners. There were no less than two squad cars parked at the end of the lot at the time. One left after a few minutes, the other cop came over to us after we'd been at it for ten or fifteen minutes, asked us what we were doing, and then said (and I quote!), "Good for you! Yeah, my son is just getting his license and I've been trying to think of a place to bring him to practice driving-- I don't know why it didn't occur to me earlier, but this place would be great!" My mom proceeded to ask if he minded what we were doing, and the guy literally said, "No, it's a good idea to practice off the road-- go ahead and rip some donuts! Have fun!"

- The place was almost completely deserted-- there were a couple of cars parked at one extreme end of the lot, I was using the other end and never getting above ~30mph. This lot is seriously the size of your average northeastern US state. There are autoxs held there a couple of times a year. There was literally nothing at all dangerous about what I was doing, but this dude decided to come be a hostile shitlord about it anyway. I'm half tempted to call the property owners and complain! I've been asked to leave places a couple of times before, but everyone's always been totally polite about it (as have I). Never before have I been chewed out by some angry little man throwing random allegations at me like I'm some kind of street racing, degenerate criminal. What a fucking shitlord.

tl;dr: It's one of the three days a year when it rains in southern California, and I don't get to learn how to do handbrake turns because of an angry douchebag. Thanks, Obama!

If you need another BRZ to be there.. let me know. In fact, the weather report claims that the next 2 days will be wet. I will blow off angry hippies with you if they reappear again LOL.

Hey, great minds think alike! I actually went to a deserted parking lot near the SB airport today. Wasn't exactly the best condition, but i did spin a few times and got dizzy. My first parking lot shenanigans; no problem at all... until the ECU thought I was spinning out of control... and decided to cut the fuel. Can't re-engage clutch to prevent that. AT problems.. nevertheless I was giggling like a little fool.

I'm not really sure if its an official product of Toyota or not, but I got them off an ebay seller from Japan who sells JDM stuff for the Toyota GT86..

Not sure if you can see the image below as I just copied the link from ebay...

The seats are pretty cool I think and really well made.. It even wraps all the way to the bottom of the seat with velcro attached and at the top of the seat there is a bar made of cotton that goes in between the seat to keep it from moving..

Yeah it was funny, during the 2 slides I got going today before I got chased off I found my TC system was all kinds of unhappy with me despite being switched full off. Really annoying... I'm sort of beginning to have my doubts about this car. Maybe I should have just gotten something old with a cable throttle.

If it's still drippy tomorrow do you wanna go poke around for places to get slideways? I, too, was oogling some spots up near the airport on google maps. I'd be down for checking some places out. Always good to keep your oppo reflexes sharp!

It was one of the rare instances where I would actually turn off all nannies. Although I did spin, I did notice ABS attempt to kick in on the puddle filled pavement. Then boom, next spin the engine shut off. For a second there I irrationally considered pulling the ABS fuse until the rain stops...

I'm down! To be honest, I've gone canyon carving multiple times. I've been saving parking lot shenanigans for rainy days like this weekend. Kid gloves are off. Time to get slideways. I got a new phone so I'm not sure if you still have my #, but if yours is the same I think it's still in my PM box.

P.S. I'd like to film some of the sideways shenanigans. That camera I used over the summer records 720p (:

You know, I just came across that thread right after I got home from my shenanigans. Yeh... I have to admit I flipped out when the ECU cut off my fuel. I thought I had waterlogged my engine from the shallow puddles on the ground.

Do you know if the pedal dance works on AT?

It probably does. The way I see it, it only implicates the brake pedals.. Right?
