With a waiting list, it is hard to imagine that everybody will get to test drive the car. More than actual buyers, I am sure there will be quite a few people who are not interested in buying car heading to the deler to check it out and see how it compares to other cars.
I can only guess that a dealer will allow a test drive if a deposit is already put up and it is your turn in the waitlist. Which means, to all those who have said they will only buy after a test drive will have to wait for their turn and not test it out as soon as it is out. Which probably means about 10-15 people per dealership this year.
Folks not on that list might not get to test one out at all. Would that be safe to say?

Deep down my purchase decision is already made, but I want to test drive it anyway. Just to be safe. I can't imagine there is going to be some deal killer critical flaw in this car that is going to make me not want to buy it, but I want to drive it anyway. I have a deposit down and I believe I will get 2nd pick at my local dealer, but I am going to wait until they get the color I want. No compromises for this car.

Somewhere on the site there was discussion about the dealers getting demo cars to serve this purpose. That's pretty standard particularly with new models in my experience through family members in the car biz.

I do know that the First 86 ones are not supposed to be driven by anyone (outside the dealership) but the person with the down payment on it since it is a confirmed buy order. Don't know about others.

Seeing as that Scion & Subaru seems to have had, and still has, plenty of vehicles all over the globe at different funcitons leads me to believe that they're can pretty much pump out these cars at will and that all facets of production are finalized. The only thing I can even conceive of that would hinder it's arival at the stealerships is really in 2 areas...

1. shipping from the plants to their destinations

2. the bean counters, i.e. the marketing teams, have taken hold of the helm and are trying to use all maner of jedi mind tricks to make us and want and pay a premium for these cars.

I put my money on #2.

But as soon as pricing is announced, will have to deal with "Oh noooz so expensive. Can't Afford." Or "My parents won't pay for the FRS now." I would rather wait a little longer before those happen.

At this point the BRZ/FRS is the only car on my radar.

If I test drive it, there would have to be something severely wrong with it for me not to buy.

But I probably won't get one for a while, at end of the year or sometime next year.

My mind's telling me nooooo, but my body, my body's telling me yeeessssss!
