Yes, move just to modify cars.

I'll be happily driving with catless headers when I find a pair I like!

The only problem with finding catted aftermarket headers with a heat shield is finding a company willing to do it. Most likely that header is going to be $1500+ as well.
Austin is a cool place, no doubt!

But you do have some pretty hot summers, and also 2x as much annual precipitation compared to where I currently live.

Anyway, You'll be happy in 20 years time that most of America drives with effective emissions equipment installed on their vehicles. I will take a cat over +5 hp and no cat.

If everyone drove catless, the air would look like 1970s LA in no time.

The header cat is more effective at removing emissions than the secondary cat, since it is closer to the head. It warms up faster and hotter, to help with startup emissions and overall efficiency.

Look up the Fujitsubo Super EX for our twins. They look nice but that's all I know. They are catted. The website is saying that they produce a desired sound.

So I got bored and decided to look up the rulings for Cali cats: http://www.arb.ca.gov/regact/2007/am...rovalamcat.pdf

Installers may not
install a new aftermarket catalytic converter in a vehicle unless all of the following
conditions are met
:
(A) The vehicle is specifically included in the vehicle application list for which the
new aftermarket catalytic converter has been exempted;
(B) The vehicle is more than 7 years old or has more than 70,000 miles on its
odometer
;
(C) The vehicle is beyond the coverage of the OEM catalyst warranty period
(which can vary from 7 years or 70,000 miles to as high as 15 years or
150,000 miles).2 Installers may reference the vehicle owner’s
manual/warranty booklet or contact the vehicle manufacturer or its
representative to verify the applicable OEM catalyst warranty;
(D) The vehicle has a legitimate need for replacement of the existing converter
that has been established and documented by the installer on the repair invoice. If the OEM converter is present, the installer must make a
determination that it is not functioning properly before acting to replace it;
(E) The exempted new aftermarket catalytic converter is installed in the same
location as the OEM catalytic converter it is designed to replace. The front
face of the installed catalytic converter shall be no more than three inches
further upstream or downstream in the exhaust from where the front face of
the OEM catalytic converter was located. The installation may not alter the
location, position, or orientation of oxygen sensors upstream and
downstream of the catalytic converter(s)
;
(F) The exempted new aftermarket catalytic converter is installed on a one-forone
catalytic converter (not substrate) basis;
(G) The exempted new aftermarket catalytic converter is installed with all other
required catalytic converters (no consolidation of catalytic converters, nor
addition of extra catalytic converters is allowed); and
(H) A warranty card has been filled out by the installer, signed by the customer,
attached to the repair invoice, and a copy returned to the manufacturer.

And sooo we're boned :/

Meh &#^$ Cali and their smog laws. I'm running catless ATM. I rarely get pulled over and when I do I turn the car off so the cop doesn't smell it. I'm just having it swapped out for smog. TBH there's so many people here running catless. The main thing is just to be curtious to any cops you meet. Don't give them reasons to go looking around your car. As far as the intake fine, the fine is 10k for every missing cat but I've never heard of a 10k fine for not having a CARB approved intake. At worse you'll get a ref ticket and have to throw the stock parts back on or pay the fine and not have to go to the ref.

There is, in fact, a catted header. It's not cheap, and more aren't due until April but I can get them when they come back in.

And they are all still illegal in California forever and on a federal level for the other 49 states for 10 years after the car's manufacturing year...

Weather in Texas sucks period. If you have never lived outside of Texas, you do not know what a nice day is.

If flat and boring is your idea of nice scenery, then Texas has it in spades.

Texas does have cheaper gas and 93 octane so on that.

And smog rules, Well that is a perspective thing. Every sport has rules. If there are no rules, then where is the challenge? Other than "Man, i have to deliver 50 more pizzas to buy that exhaust!"

Don't argue with anybody from Texas about Texas...

Everything you say is wrong and Texas is always better.

I lived in OC, California for 15 years before moving to Arizona for 4 years. Then I got stationed in Oklahoma and I made numerous trips for events and stuff in Texas.

Texas ain't bad but I would still take Cali over Texas. I will say though, there's too many damn people now in California! I visited in December after not being there for 3 years and a 10 mile commute at 8pm on a Tuesday took almost 45 minutes. Wtf!

I graduated from Texas A&M and I know all about the Round Rock, Austin and Central Texas area. I know exactly what texas is all about.

So before you go assuming I don't know a thing about Texas, you should probably ask why I have that opinion about that state.

If I am wrong about the weather, please correct me with some sort of supporting argument.

As for the landscape, I ask for the same thing

and as for the gas prices....

What part of my post even gave you an idea that I had never lived in Texas?

Just because you lived in Texas does not mean you know all about it. See your own quotes as to why that is obvious.

Texas has more geographic regions that just about any other state. Mountains, plains, coast, forest, desert, basins, etc....
Just because you were in an area that was flat does not mean the entire state is.

Weather is entirely subjective and changes on a seasonal basis and can vary wildly depending on physical location (much like California).

So based on your comments I am saying you have had a very limited view of what Texas is like and you are generalizing an entire state on that your very limited exposure.

Also I am not some die hard Texan that thinks Texas is the greatest place on earth. I have been to over 40 of the 50 states and there are many beautiful places to live.
