And afterwards, I drove the Evora 200 miles home with the cruise control, while listening to sattelite radio. It's really a beautiful compromise of a livable vehicle with tremendous feel and handling.

I have a feeling that all those cars you passed were driven by people who were asleep or didn't care? Unless you're saying your car is better at the track than any of those cars.

I'm saying that the car is plenty capable on the track. Am I a better driver than them? Probably. Did they not care? I doubt it. I have video of one of the Shelby's spinning right in front of me; after trying to hold me off for two laps unsuccessfully. It's hard to spin when you're not pushing. Funny that you'd doubt a Lotus when the FT86 platform hangs it's hat on tracking faster than cars that spec faster than it. You think your fR-S handles well? It does, but it won't touch the MR Loti.

One of the things that I always found lacking in this community was attitude. Maybe it's an age thing, maybe it's all in my head, who knows? But if you go over to the Lotus forums you'll not see pages dedicated to "come race me bro" and "lotus vs..." And when you go to the track, people want to see and learn about your car. When I got the Lambo; I did it by following a better Lotus drivers line. After that session, the Aventador driver came and said "nice driving" and we talked about cars. It's fun, it's not a measure of how big your junk is or how much money you make.

Shhhh buddy calm down. I'm not a kid by any stretch of your limited imagination, my attitude is 100% justified because what you said reeks of the same fanboyism that is rife on this forum too.

The Evora is an amazing car, and its only real competitor is the Cayman. It has been praised for handling and magical steering feel, yes. But to point to your experience at the track with you lapping all sorts of exotics and then insinuating that its God's gift to track cars, then you will probably have someone call you out. To set the record straight, yes the Evora is a very capable track car. No, it will not do any better than any of the cars you listed if driver skill remains the same. The worst example you can use is your own.

To stay on topic, this thread is pretty much a troll thread. OP, you write up something demeaning on the FRS in an FRS forum about how you're moving on to bigger and better things, when to be honest no one really sees anything past a guy saying "Look at me and what my money got me" and "My car is better than yours". What response were you hoping to get?

Congrats on the beautiful Evora, best of luck to you, not sure why you are still here.

Slow your roll. Read what I said. I used the words perfectly capable twice. For a reason. In didn't say it's the best track car ever. I said it was fun, and again, perfectly capable. That's it.

For the Op, and for me at least for now, it's a great compromise of drivability and performance. The fanboy stuff is coming from all the haters who are criticizing someone for choosing something other than the twins.

Well honestly, the under-power bug had always bit me on this platform, even though I always knew the 86 was born to be a Toy platform.

Toy around the track, x-cross, learn on it, swap things out, learn on it, swap back...learn on it....and it would still be different every times. You will still have a big Grin on your face every time.

Still, if we are looking for some DD, show-off, usable power, Passing power....I dont think this will fit.

And how many people out there in the US can actually have time to Toy around with ? Probably more than what I think....while I would love to do so, I can not afford the time to do so.

Therefore, it is not for me, and under the same category Op. While that Evora is an excellent vehicle, to me it is ways more of a Bragging rights Intangible object.

Because, I would hate to have a Rock Chip on it, or a Key scratch, or break a linkage while Auto Cross or harsh driving conditions. So neither is that one for me.

But congratulation on having the vehicle you really want, and dream off. After all, each person entertain and value different aspects of life.

I find this comment somewhat ironic being that the FA-20 isn't really part of the Toyota family. We see them in Foresters and other Subie's, but no other Toyota's so I will say its actually more of a Subaru thing.

i've driven in an elise and an evora

evora is for the driver that couldn't quite come to terms to the small size and lack of creature comforts of the Elise.

Having said that, i wasn't particularly impressed with the quality of the Evora interior.

now the Esprit.. there's a car worth oogling over.

Honestly, I'd take a Cayman S (09 or newer) over an Evora. A bit more power, a bit lighter, and still a really handling-focused, mid engined car that can be driven every day. The Evora definitely looks more exotic though (and has the token rear seats, if that really makes much of a difference).

Actually, one of the most amusing things I've seen recently was that someone brought an Evora to the local Porsche club's Eiskhana (ice autocross). On all season tires. He nearly got stuck more than once, even though the ice was absolutely flat. They really do look amazing in person though (this one was yellow with black accents).

Did you turn of the nannies? A bit hard to believe since my ae86 which has fuckall torque can spin the tires for days even on dry.

Congrats on the new car tho.

2) Once you have owned those cars, you'll understand a couple of things
a) Very expensive to drive, maintain, and insure
b) Not very traffic friendly
c) No room for anything
d) Not very comfortable
All of which makes then not a practical daily driver
3) You will need a second car as a DD ... increasing auto cost even more
4) Most of the cars in that video did not meet my previously listed criteria and will never be driven daily ... too afraid to get them dirty or will leave them stranded and penniless
5) Most of those cars cost well over 6 figures ...
6) Who wants to drive another porsche ... done to death around here ... not at all exotic
7) Who wants to drive a mustang ... yuckkkk ... I would have rather rode my bike
8) I will give you the GTR ... and I even test drove one ... but they are just so ugly
9) Cars are not just HP and drag racing in a straight lines ... have the above test ... and add turns ... then see what happens.
10) This car will still smoke 9 out of 10 cars on the road today ... and can be modded if so desired ... not for me though

In the end I wanted a DD that could be reliable (think toyota), had room, could be driven in traffic, did not cost a arm to keep ... and was rare and exotic.

I challenge you to find a better car for less than 60k!
like I said, the video was just for example and doesn't prove anything. you say the FRS didn't meet your many listed criteria but your first post was just speed and only speed. That is why I'm so 'da fuq?' on your choice. i'm not bashing the car or the fact that you own it. i'm just awe struck at your reasoning. and the car was 80k not 60k as you got 22k back in trade. so your budget would realistically be 80-85k at which point I believe you made a mistake in your purchase if you just went for 'faster than my old car' but made a good choice if you just based your purchase on 'I love lotus and that car makes me cum'
