COBB Accessport for FRS/BRZ
Not sure if this info is already somewhere on here, but with most of my car friends rocking Accessports, I really wanted one. Don't think I'll be getting one though... 😟

there are two things i dont like about it
1. my friend has one on his 14 WRX. to us that know what it is we think its pretty cool BUT to people that are not car savvy, they usually think that its some sort of cell phone or GPS device so I've seen him try to explain what it is to people so many times that I've lost count. i joke around and tell people that it is his life alert device lol. 2. if you dont unplug it and hide it. it is a thief magnet. you will always risk getting your window broken because someone tries to steal it. it has some nice features but after all it is still a piggyback device. for the money i rather have the ECU flashed directly and we already have plenty of options for that. so in reality we are not missing out on anything... that is unless u want a cell phone looking device that you'd always have to explain to others what it is. |

Yea I saw this in a thread awhile back. Focusing on factory FI vehicles. They offered them for my BMW but I used something different that was proven to be better.

i couldn't imagine having to transfer a map to a handheld before being able to flash it to the car. that's a very major practical drawback. flash downtime sucks bad enough as it is, adding another step to the process would just make it even worse. especially on the dyno, when you're paying for those minutes.
maybe for ots maps or whatever, but for tuning i'll stick to my laptop. |

The accessport offers quite a bit, just not on the 86 platform. For tuning with Cobb software most of the tuning is done in real-time with your computer without the need for a flash. You are able to make changes on-the-fly while the engine is running. When done, you save your tune and flash the final. Makes dialing in things like boost control very efficient. |

WRONG- It is a re-flashing process just like Ecutek or OFT. Most people would never leave it attached all the time. Personally, I use Torque with my phone or tablet for a much nicer customized gauge cluster.

I had an AP for my '12 WRX...
We have the V3 now for our Focus ST. It has a power switch now so you can turn it off while being plugged in. It also keeps your page configuration so you don't have to configure what you want to monitor every time you start your car. We turn the focus on, hit the power button and it immediately goes to the screen which shows the read outs for boost, AFR, and oil pressure. MUCH BETTER Than before. The older one required you to plug/unplug it. The old Cobb AP is not really worth the money IMO. You can get WAY better results for less with open source tuning. The new ones though are definitely worth the money with all the improvements.
