So you can see all the way into the muffler, 4 inches across? The silencers fit into the 4 inch opening reducing it to a smaller diameter with a long tube that blocks your view into the muffler.

More then a few locally have em, if you're ok with drone then you'll be ok with em. Outside ya sounds good, personally I could never rock em.

I've had the Evo3 on my FRS for about 2 months now without silencers. Around town it never really bothered me and, in fact, I actually liked how loud it was. However, after a long drive to see my girl I installed the silencers and I'm definitely not going to be taking them off. I guess it was cool to have the loud exhaust for a little while but I think I have grown tired of it and I prefer the nice quiet sound of the Evo3 with silencers. I like not having to turn the radio up to Vol: 40+ just to hear it and it's also nice to not have to scream at my passenger just to get them to hear me. Also, the Evo3 created so much vibration with the added noise that the rear of my car had rattles that weren't there previously. I installed the silencers and now there's no more rattles.

I'm sure I'll miss the more aggressive sound of this exhaust w/o silencers, but for now I just can't rationalize taking them back off.....

I just installed an EVO3 on my setup... Silencers are in for sure, without them its like the end of the the world is coming I like the sound with the silencers in on my setup. I need to do a drive by vid with them in.

This drive by is without them installed (aka apocalypse mode)

Not sure why the video is so choppy it plays ok on my home PC, when I upload it, it gets all choppy.

So 2 weeks ago I impulsed on this exhaust. It drones to the point I get a headache. highway driving is unbearable for me. Funny thing is, it sounds way louder inside the car than it does on the outside. I am thinking about getting another resonator added to the pipe to cut down the drone. Has anyone does this yet? If so how did it impact the drone

Thanks so much for sharing your clip. I just ordered JDL UEL headers and a nameless catted down/over pipe with helmholtz resonator... Hopefully the resonator will eliminate the drone.

Btw, how is your exhaust setup without the silencers ? I'm currently running just the exhaust without the silencers n plan to do the same after headers n the pipe install. If the drone is still unbearable, I might just switch exhausts.

P.s. From the looks of it, you're close by, I'd love to hear your setup in person.

My 2 cents and broken ear drums...

Hey guys, so I had my Evo 3 installed today and I must say....it is a beautiful deep sound. However...it is too loud for my taste. The drone at 3k-4k rpm is too loud for my ears. In fact I was disappointed about how loud the drone was.

I know for a fact that I am very sensitive to it. I have a condition in which I have holes in both my ear drums. I'm actually in pain from drone. I took my gf for a ride and she couldn't get to the end of the block without complaining lol. My brother (the auto tech. who did the installation) said his ears were popping while driving it. I wasn't able to enjoy my car, and to me...that broke my heart... It was as if me and her (frs) got into a bad argument.

I'm kind of freaking out because I did not drive the car with the silencers in and I'm really hoping that these silencers will stop the drone. I almost threw out the stock exhaust but decided to hang onto them just in case the silencers fail. I will be putting the silencers back in tomorrow and holly sh*t...they are a P.I.A.

For those who can tolerate the drone, much respect for you guys.

Other than that, I haven't heard any rattling (w/o silencers) and I'm using the stock hangers.

The silencers seriously work wonders. I installed it with the silencers in and could barely even notice I had an aftermarket exhaust on. Zero drone and hardly any more noise over stock. Took the silencers out and it was the exact opposite. Just wish there was a happy medium
