It's a design flaw, every FT86 either has it or will get it. Two pump revisions have yet to fix it, hopefully the third one does better. And although it's not a mechanical issue, rest assured the resale value of everyone's car has been impacted by this. Indirectly through low reliability ratings, or directly from a potential buyer hearing it.

My chirping kicked in really bad at 950 miles. It wasn't too bad around 500 but now the damn noise is really annoying.

Called and scheduled a diagnostic because of the chirping noise.

- Took it in on Feb 15 and told diagnostic was going to be half hour.
- Fifteen minutes in the wait room later, my service advisor says it is the HPFP assembly, if parts are in then it'll be about three hours. If not, it'll be a week for parts.
- Ten minutes later, parts are in stock so they shuttled me home.
- two hours later, ready for pickup.

Here is the paperwork information:
Replaced per TSB # 09-54-12R
Parts list:
1x 16625JB010 PUMP AY FUEL HIGH PRESSURE
1x 17540AA340 PIPE AY FUEL DLVY
1x 17555AA040 GSKT FUEL PIPE
2x 14035AA610 GSKT INT MANIF
1x 16175AA420 GSKT THROT CHMBR

Since then, went on two spirited drives in the nearby hills, daily commute to work, and refilled twice on Chevron 91.

No chirping. *fingers crossed*

So what I'm reading so far is that some people are getting new fuel pumps and toyoburu are working to fix this issue. So this is under warranty but what if I have a FI? will they fix my cricket noise or will I be opted out due to FI?

There have been two new pumps released to address this. Green dot back in April, and then revised version of that in October. People report chirping returns on both after hundreds, to low thousands of miles. No permanent fix yet.

Unless you know a really cool dealership, you'll likely be told FI voided your power-train warranty. Now did your FI cause the known chirping to occur, no, but they can still deny you. Good luck.

I'm running 16x6.5" steelies with 255/50/16 Blizzaks. I'm not switching back to my stock all-seasons until after a trip to NY, where it's still cold and snowy. The stock tires were pretty crap on the slick stuff.

I haven't really thoroughly inspected the lines but there is no visible signs of corrosion. Car has been running great though. Aside from the occasional crickets. But no I'm not running flex, just the shiv e85 tune. Definitely worth every penny. There is a night a day difference from stock tune vs. E85.

Very nice to hear! My OFT came in late last week and i've been running the e85 tune ever since. It really is night and day. Daily drivability is SOO effortless now.

To my surprise, I heard those blasted crickets a few days ago on e85. Only once tho. And they were much more subdued that before I got the oct17 pump installed. I can't imagine how loud they would be if I was still on my original pump.

So I'm at the dealer and they say the cricket noise is nothing harmful to the engine. Is this correct? Bc I thought the noise was from faulty fuel pumps...

No offense to you, but I for one am really tired of answering questions like this when we have over 3800+ posts to this thread now.

There hasn't been any apparent negative effects to the functionality of the engine in any cars in which the fuel pump hasn't been replaced.

Well I just started looking at this thread this week and there's like 3 or 4 hundred pages so it was kind of hard to find my answer and I apologize
But thanks for answering my questions
Edit: realized there's 174 pages but still a lot :p

Just got the pump replaced today. They had a field engineer look at my car but I saw the following part number of my paperwork
1x 16625JB000 PUMP AY FUEL HIGH PRESSURE. Looks like it's the old one and I let them know. They told me that the field engineer ordered the "new" pump but it had the same part number....I'm pretty sure they just fed be bull sh11t.

I'll probably be on my 4th on in 2 months....smh.
