I thought about throwing a second set of bulbs in the blinker housings on these taillights, but I also have plans to move to aftermarket lights and they don't have the same style blinkers.

Hmm. Probably so. I've just been associating it with aftermarket exhausts. But yeah, it's totally an exterior mod.

I was SUPPOSED to start working on the diffuser right away, but shit happened financially.

As for the light, there's pretty much an infinite number of solutions. My first idea is to cut a hole and flush-mount a light dead center in the rear bumper cover. It would be really easy to fasten to the inside of the bumper cover.

Does anyone actually check for that? I know I live in Mississippi where vehicle inspections are super lax, but I'd be really surprised if any state checked for DOT approval of a reverse light. That being said, California blows my mind all the time.

Lol at the reverse lights.

I'll keep my parachute haha

That makes it dangerous in parking lots.

People won't know if you are reversing and might just go while you go.

That's a bit too unfinished looking for my tastes.. But it looks good on your car!
I'm one of those anal symmetrical types who has to have balance..
Lots of creativity on your part though.

Doesn't mean a person walking behind your car will know you are reversing

At the end of the day it's your car, do what makes you happy though haha

Well typically I back up slowly and only if I can't go forward. So between the noise, context clues, and that I'm slowly creeping backwards, people should know. This isn't my DD though, so it's really irrelevant to me.

Depends. Here in MD you only need pass the real inspection when you buy a car or sell a car, basically when ownership transfers. You would definitely fail for not having functioning reverse lights. I think it's a little dangerous to not have indicators that you're in reverse, but *shrug*.

I wonder if insurance would screw you if something happened. That'd be my second biggest concern after not being able to display that I am, in fact, not in a forward gear at the moment. Looks pretty cool on your car, gotta be honest.

Just slap a couple little fog lights back there wired to the reverse harness. Bonus of being able to see while backing up.

If you can't find an acceptable way to include reverse lights and you can get away without them with your local laws, why not hook up a beeper like they have on trucks and forklifts etc. to warn people you are reversing?

I plan on doing this in conjunction with my real diffuser.

As for the fix on the reverse lights. Small LED bar attached to the bumper beam. Wore it to the pre-existing harness. Done. Fixed. $35.

I didn't know what that was, but I looked it up, and yeah, you're right.
