Really? Sound system? You must not own a Toyota Tacoma 4door 2004.
I think it is wonderful.
I guess it is all perspective.
Yeah, so the doors rattle. I put some squishy foam in the door cup holders. It helps. And now the drinks don't sit on plastic, but foam.

The doors rattling isnt a problem ...Im an Audiophile. The relative gains to frequency ranges are terrible as you turn up head unit power.

I am definitely looking into OEM audio plus.Too much bass priority on the componant speakers, this takes power that could be used to enhance mid/high end clarity ... and there is no sub. In this day and age it is unacceptable. My compy has better sound quality than this at only 100$

ideally you should optimize with a sub, mid componants, high componants. There should be no bass going to your componants ..it is a waste of energy and splits the speakers work and power load. Each speaker segment should do its specific job ..even considering this ..other stock systems have much higher definition and quality albeit all are unoptimized.

Try putting in a Tori Amos track and hearing each instrument layer ... things you never heard before. Hard to reproduce in a car ...it is the worste acousting environment imaginable ..yet oem audio plus does it ...

The thing I hate most is probably the drains that run through either side of the trunk.

The first time I gave my car a foam bath and washed it, I drove it into the garage to dry it and did so - and then I popped the trunk after it was all dried and looking great to discover two big piles of frothy suds built up right underneath either side of the trunk (where the lifts are) from soapy water running through that area.

Now when I wash my car, I have to open the trunk and carefully spray water for a good amount of time along the rear windshield, so that water is able to push the suds out before I can dry it

The huge blind spots, the clutch feel is odd to me, the awful stock tires and the lack of armrest are the things I hate most about the car. Also, I wish they would have just taken the rear seats out but w/e.

Yes, thanks, I'm well aware of this. I'm just answering the question and these are the things that bug me about the car.

I wish our cars had a power driver's seat. Even a partial power seat would be nice. The passenger seat should at least have a manual height adjustment as well.

Only things that bug me so far..

So much chrome on the the headlights/tail lights

Lack of radio controls on the steering wheel.. seems like kinda a standard option on a lot of new cars? (Minor complaint)

I'm sure I'll find something else as I drive it more (only had it a couple days)

For about $1000-2000 what would you put in the car? Without using up trunk space. Love to upgrade, but I don't know where to start.

Oem audio plus ..it is designed for the car and preserves balance and trunk space.

The kit includes a set of new tweeters, crossovers which will take all bass signal to your new 8" sub and allow the door speakers to produce only MIDS and highs, and the tweeters also. And componant amplifiers to boost head unit signal, so you do not get distortion from high head unit output, and sub woofer amplifier.

It all plugs into the factory harnesses and no cutting or splicing is required.

Also Scion /toyota service departments will install this for you in your BURZ or FRS for 100$ ..but it depends on the dealership.

Oem audio plus has become a dealer installed option for Scion, but not for subaru. but since it is the same car ... I have heard scion/toyota will agree to do this for you as it is the same process pretty much.

This is not a system to win stupid "loudness" competitions. This is a system that will allow you to hear ALL the depth and layers of your songs, and pick out instrument tracks you never noticed before in a car ... all while giving you good chest resonating bass from a single 8" sub.

This is a system for "Quality" sound ..and for the price and ease of Install ..it is an absolute bargain .. it is one of the best systems I have heard In a car.

The only fix would be to tear out the dash and add insulation, you'd probably be adding more rattles and noises because interior pieces never seem to fit the same way twice.
Would it be a matter of taking it apart and placing a foam strip inside?
