I got it serviced in November of last year.
After 2 weeks, the cricket came back.
But then again it went away for good after a week or two.

I drive quite a bit... on top of SF trip and Vegas trip I took...(I live in LA) I can comfortably say that cricket is gone for good.

Make sure they replace your fuel pump with updated parts.
I don't know all the details, but I made sure I had the latest print out and told the service manager to double check the parts number.

installing a replacement fuel pump i believe

there was a fix order
i printed it, and took it to dealership, and they took care of the rest.

if you search around the forum, you will find what I am talking about.

My chirps started basically right after my 1k mile break-in period. I hit 1k, went on a spirited drive on some back roads near my house, and when I pulled into my driveway and the car idled I heard them. However, since winter started I haven't heard the chirps once.

A local dealer ordered a new fuel pump the week before last under the TSB. Hopefully the one that Subaru sends is the most up to date one that stands the best chance of fixing the chirps.

And it's been discussed before in other threads, but the most consistent "fix" for the chirps is to use gas that doesn't contain ethanol. Those of you who "fixed" the chirps by changing brands of gas, is it known to be ethanol-free?

I work at a Toyota dealership and my service manager has told me that if I get the chirping on my frs to let him know and they will replace the stock fuel regulator... So clearly there's more wrong than brands of gas.

I've been using Shell and my crickets are louder than ever. I heard a lot of folks say that Shell is the way to go. I'll try my next few pumps with Chevron and see if anything changes. No way I'm taking my car to the dealer until there is a permanent fix. Still can't believe it's been taking this long though honestly. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to drive

I welcome all crickets. They don't bother me.

The best way to silence the crickets is to turn up the volume a little. I always listen to ESPN and Fox Sports radio when I drive, so I really can't tell if the crickets are QQing or pooping.

When I would drive through the Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego, I would notice people standing at intersections staring at my car. I use to wonder if they were admiring my car or wondering why it was chirping so loudly.

Chevron also noticeably lowered my crickets for me. That's all I will fill up with now!

It bothers me most when you're entering public parking lots / areas or say taking a girl out on a date. My car shouldn't sound like a 90's Oldsmobile

Hey my brand new baby has started chirping and I dont want to have to twist my dealers arm to have him recognize the issue. Would you mind sharing the dealer that took care of yours?

Toyota Carlsbad Service Advisor told me that the cheap AM/PM gas I had used in the first three fills caused the chirps. Suggested I switch to Chevron. At first I was skeptical, but after 1 tank of Chevron 91, I haven't noticed the chirps.. may be coincidence, but only time will tell.
