Same thing with nitrous around here - not worth the legal trouble. It's a 4th degree misdemeanor to have an open bottle in a car. Likelihood of getting caught? Very low as long as you aren't caught breaking another law.

4th degree misdemeanor carries up to $2000 fine and up to 30 days in jail.

I live in Nevada, where front plates are required. I bought the car in Arizona, where they are not. So I lucked out because the dealers do not drill the front fascia.

I don't intend to pit the front plate on. I haven't used a front plate here since the 80's, and have never gotten a ticket for it.

If I ever DID get a "fix-it" ticket. I'd put the front plate frame on with double faced tape, and take it off again as soon as I turned the corner from the courthouse.

"Born to be wild" eh?

I got a ticket 3 days after getting the car...I have friends who have done it for years with no issues but it wasn't the case for me. They ended up dropping the ticket when I fought it but still, I ended up installing one just cause I didn't want the hassle for the amount that I drive.

I looked at the cars around me on the road for the few weeks before I bought the car. Despite being "required" here, only about 2/3 of the cars on the road run a front license plate.

I then got pulled over for not putting the registration sticker on my rear plate (totally forgot when I put my plates on). While stopped, I had the balls to ask the officer if I needed to mount a front license plate, and that I really didn't want to because drilling holes made me sad.

He said that he has never in ten years issued a citation for it, and that the only time you would get a citation is if not having it interfered with the officer's ability to identify your car.

So basically, I'd have to commit some crime, get away, somehow only let them see the front of my car, and then get caught again in order to get the citation.

Since I don't ever get to the "commit a crime" part, I think I'll be okay

Even if police don't stop you, the parking enforcers will issue citations here in SF.

I got ticketed on a street cleaning day. And my car wasn't even on the side of the street that was getting cleaned.

And the same parking enforcers usually go around the same routes, so I could be ticketed every 2 weeks by the same enforcer.

I figure that the car will attract enough law-enforcement attention as it is, I don't want to give them a reason to hassle me.

Am in Texas, but didn't want to drill so I bought a tow-hook mounting kit. If the law ever changes (it almost did last year, I believe) then I can just reverse the process and be good-as-new.

We need front plates in Ontario as well. I was debating on not putting one on, but to me its not worth the added attention. It could give the police a reason to pull you over and give you more tickets for something like having your windows tinted past the 'legal limit'.

Picked up a grimmspeed bracket, doesn't look too bad IMO.

As silly as it may sound, the front license plate law irritates me so much. I pretty much refuse to live in a state that requires it. It looks aweful, requires you to drill into a bumper which lowers the integrity of it, and it adds more drag and cuts airflow to your radiator increasing engine temps. Now, I understand that I am exaggerating a bit but still, the idea of it all just pisses me off. If you want one on the back, fine... but no way would I put one in front! Governments and police are so controlling!

I think it's funny how a lot of people consider Texas to be the most free state in the country. I've been to almost every state and I would consider Texas to be the least free. The cops have a cowboy George W Bush mentality. I've been pulled over twice driving through there and I saw cops everywhere each time. It felt like going from Nazi Germany to Sweden when I crossed into the New Mexico border.

One time I was driving through, going maybe 1, 2, or 3 mph over the speed limit (honestly!), and a cop driving the other way, slammed on his brakes, and smashed through the center median ditch, almost getting himself stuck (which was hilarious), to go after me. But now that I think about it, he probably thought I was a Texan resident without a front license plate. Since I'm from Indy, I didn't have a front plate.

But yeah, screw Texas.

I've run without a front plate on any of my vehicles for so long that I forgot they're required. At track days and autocross the rear is removed, too.

I was pulled over once in my Supra TT and the nice local cop asked "is it because of looks?" and I said "Yes". He said "I understand" and let me go with a smile.

Utah. And sure, you can have them. They are pretty bored around here outside of Salt Lake City, so they get pretty anal at times to meet quotas. Luckily license plates just don't seem to get much attention

Same here in Manitoba, mandatory to have front plates. barely see any people not running with no front plates here. you will see the Police ticketing people for having their rear plates covered by snow & not clearing them off more often then no front plates

did the sameas you & got the Grimmspeed relocation kit. i informed the dealer prior to picking up the car so that they wouldn't drill into the front.
