Looks good so far. I love how discreet it is.

Completely stupid design, the cardboard would rip off and bend at high speeds!

/sarcasm Looks good, I'm excited to see this made.

Thanks guys. This project is far from dead. I just got really busy and short on funds.

I went to a local water jet shop this morning. We'll see how that pans out. The original material was 0.05" 5052, but they actually have 0.063" 6063. Can I get an opinion or two on it?

Should be just fine. The 5052 is cheaper aluminum, and considered more brittle, but doing what it is and not being a structural piece it suits it just fine.

I had my shop get me a couple quotes for material this morning and the 5052 came in at about $13 per 1'x4' section, and 6061 was 14.50, so I bought a 4x12' sheet of that.

Very interested to see how yours turns out, especially since you have some CAD files already as that'd save me from having to make my own for the Laser/Waterjet, if you wouldn't mind sharing your base files?

I like it! I want the Driveway labs diffuser but it's just racecar for my DD. This one is much more discreet.

Hey! Cardboard has been proven to be stronger than aircraft grade aluminum. It even handles heat much better. Cardboard is just way too expensive to work with.

@Wonderbar just released a rendering of his new "street" variant of the DWL diffuser. Go check it out.

I hope it comes out nicely. And I hope you don't get caught with any hidden charges.

If the aluminum will be bent, you will want to go with 5052. 0.063" 5052 is pretty common so it shouldn't be an issue to find it.

So they actually do have 5052 in both .050" and .063".

Either of those sizes are fine, just make it uniform through the piece.
