Loud brakes at a stop in wet conditions
Hey guys,
Have any of you noticed that your brakes "catch" when letting off of the pedal after a brief stop during wet conditions? IE going through a drive thru after/during a rain. I realize that this is common after a car wash, etc, on other vehicles, but mine always happens when I've been driving (and braking) for a while. My actual situation: After about 30 miles of 60MPH highway driving (including braking for stop lights, conditions, etc) I stopped at the McDs for breakfast. This morning, we had a light rain or mist. When I stopped initially, everything sounded good. When starting to roll after holding the brake for a few seconds, my brakes sound like they catch - a loud pop during the release. It happens back to back during the drive thru, but mechanically they seem fine. I've only noticed it twice (under same conditions) within the last 2 weeks - never before. I'm waiting on my wheels to show up today, so I'll be "in there" to look around tonight sometime. Any suggestions on issue points to check? or is this something that happens to all of you? I think my daily commute would require enough braking to have them fairly dry and it's garage kept. It's almost as bad as my squeaking window in the rain ![]() Thanks, Amanda

However, while you have the wheels off the ground, spin them and have someone hit the brakes, to check for a lazy (sticking) caliper. Also, check how much pad you have left. humfrz |
