I really think once it's gone, it'll help out the value on used ones. But I was actually hoping to trade mine in for one with less miles. Hopefully they will make one with a bigger, but not to big, moter and maybe that'll increase the sales.

I think everyone is missing the point that this comment is coming from Europe where the car is much more expensive compared to most other markets ($56,000 in Ireland for example), and nobody has the money to buy it because socialism.

Okay now you're comparing used, out if warranty, roadsters (not very convenient might I add) to a very practical 2+2 sports car that can be driven all year round...much MUCH easier than an S2K. So what's out there (new) that's so much more practical, as much fun as these cars, and for less money?

The biggest point that I gave the big WTF to, was that you said they aren't "lookers". Are you kidding me?! That's been a pretty wide margin consensus positive to these cars from most journalist reviews and user reviews.

Finally, your point completely collapsed when you ended with the "86 will survive". Based on what? From what I've seen, sales figures are pretty even globally (if not in favor of NA).

Common' Man!!

Sure the car costs more here but is well equiped for its price compared to other cars.. especially compared to a german car.. but people in europe will rather pay 30000€ for a used german car for its "status" than an expensive toyota/subaru. No matter if the car is better or worse.. europeans love their badges...

Automotive sites never sensationalize quotes

Take everything that isn’t an actual quote with a grain of salt... the only one this time is:

Maybe the FT86 is missing sales targets.

Or maybe it’s meeting targets, but Toyota/Subaru would need it to really take off before they could add variants. There's not a lot of profit in a relatively low volume vehicles at this price-point, and small RWD coupes are halo cars (lots of mainstream appeal, but few mainstream buyers).

I beg to differ with the massive amount of aftermarket parts around and still growing... but at the same time if it isn't one of those parts, you will pay an arm or leg, fabricate, or hack it.

Besides the Miata community, I have never seen a niche as well as a company advocate so hard for mediocre performance.

This is fine, they can keep fewer on the road. I rarely see another one around my area or even pass through (1 every 3 or 5 months so far) and this kind of makes me feel like I am driving a "rare" hard to get car .

A LOT of competition for this segment in Europe for this style car that is for damn sure. I'm just grateful I don't live in some of The European Countries, cars cost too much. Sorry a little off topic there.

I like the look of that Cabriolet, reminds me of what a Topless Supra might look like just a little smaller.

I would love to see a Forced Version from the manufacturer, would undoubtedly be a Turbo. Just have a dial and turn up the boost.

Also I like the fact that some dude at the local AutoZone around the Block has an FR-S. Each time I have to park in that lot I always take a long look at that car. He always backs it in though, I prefer the rear end. Or just rear ends in general.
