FWIW, don't sweat the 964 Turbo as it does NOT fit under the Carrera 2/4 wording. We are clarifying this soon.
M030 968 was the car to have in everyone's mind in 2005. It never was able to close the deal on the RX8 for years and everyone apparently gave up.

Evening folks! Figured this was a good a place as any to do the intro. Traded in my Si for an FR-S a couple weeks ago. Still adjusting to it. 8 years of autocrossing and 160k with the same car is a tough set of trained responses to change...
Anyway, I still have my hoosiers leftover from nationals last year, and they happen to be the right size for the FR-S, so I'll be playing around in CSR until I burn those up. Should be mostly paying attention to this thread as opposed to commenting until I get my prep going, which I won't get very far with this year. I'll probably try a few things, but I'm considering this a mostly rebuilding/learning/throwaway/just-have-fun season coming up. Sorry for the OT. |

We really don't have to. The car I think you are referring to is the 3.6S which is not a Carrera 2 or 4 so its not in CS. However I think we might clarify that one as well.

Yeah, please do. Until further clarification at least locally the 911 non-turbo NOC catches a lot of P-cars.

Out of curiosity and having driven many of them as PCA guy, which one exactly is giving you trouble in CS?

I ran a 993 C4S widebody in the old AS then BS. I wouldn't be afraid of that 964 C4S in CS at all.

AWD with 18x8 and 18x10 rubber and looking at the 0-60 times, it looked like it would be very favorable in the class. I have never driven a 911 so don't have any reference to the handling. Glad to know it shouldn't be an over dog if one showed up. |

It's been sitting there for years untapped for a reason. Sure someone like Heitkotter could win in one, but he could win in a E36 M3 too I'm sure. The AWD is heavy and really promotes understeer and that wide body is really wide in the rear making JLo and Kim Kardashian jealous. Kozlak won AS in a 993 C2 at HPR during those super low grip days.
FWIW I think the 964 was the same as the 993 wide bodies. When they didn't sell as many of the turbos as expected they tried to get rid of wide bodies by building the wide body non-turbo AWDs (C4S). I see a lot of fear of other cars on this forum, more so than any of the others I read and the season hasn't even begun. IMO just run your races, we're watching closely.

I'm not sure of the "cars" you are talking about. The 370Z has been brought up as the season has begun in parts of the country and thus far it is looking to have replaced the MSR as an over dog. I am a proactive not reactive kind of person. I would rather ask the question than see a bunch of people pissed off after the fact. |

The whole club did just do a pretty significant shake of the stock/street yahtzee cup, with another possibly big re-roll at the end of this season. This early, classing complaints won't likely carry all that much weight without a solid volume of good data to support the decision. At least try to make the lemonade first. If I'm not mistaken, classing changes are only done annually (unless a new car comes out). So, the ship for 2014 has kinda already sailed. |

I can understand the sentiment. I'm sure many of you know (but others may not), that you can always submit input to the SCCA advisory committees, which can then submit potential car class changes for member comment through the Fastrack releases. Interacting with some of SAC, I know they do their best to foresee all possible outcomes as rules change. Even still, with sweeping rule changes like we just underwent, things may not be as balanced as everyone would like in the first year.
Thanks for some of the input on these cars Tom!
