Atlanta is a major travelling hub for many, highways make the city easily accessible (just make sure to coordinate your time coming in with rush hour; but same with any major city). You can get to the Atlanta airport from just about any city, and also a lot of international countries. Road Atlanta and Atlanta Motorsports Park are two tracks that are easily reachable for track time. If those don't work out, the north GA mountain roads such as Blood Mountain are easily reachable in about an hour. I think @ATL BRZ may be able to come up with a few more reasons.

This.

Having the Expo in Atlanta, at a local road course would be EPIC. 86's on track, 86s being shown off, parts being sold and immediately installed and track tested. I can't think of anything more fun to draw a bunch of owners in from surrounding states.

Even if we just congregate somewhere in the city it wouldn't be impossible to get an open parking lot (Tuner Field, Stone Mtn or Gwinnett FairGrounds) and start tossing our cars through some cones.

I have been dying for something big like this to come to our city and get EVERYONE out!

The SE 86 club recently tried to put together a track day at AMP and failed miserably. Nobody fronted the money for the track time and it fell apart quickly.

May give an opportunity for people to track as well, I know not a whole lot of people do, but they could get their feet wet with options of 1 or two sessions on the track.

I'm going to throw this out there.... New Hampshire Motor Speedway. I know its no where near the middle of the east coast, but it has TONS of space. Lot of hotels in the area as it is a NASCAR track.

On the note about not wanting to drive. I have no issues with driving down to somewhere mid country, Atlanta however seems a bit far, IMO.

Track is always nice... but sometimes, for owner that's new to sports car, track is a bit scary thing for them. Experienced guys, we know it's fun... but danger of damaging the car is higher than autox.

You gotta start em small w less danger, my friend.

This is the one of the reason, I prefer autox at the event than track. It's also low cost than track. For gutless car like FRS/BRZ it's really fun.

Last yr's event, we had more than half of the owner who signed up for autox never did autox. After that, almost every single one of em told me, they really loved it & want to do it again or look into track event around their area.

I'm in TN. If not for my local track closing down, I would say have it here at the Nashville Super Speedway. I vote for GA and doing it at AMP or something.

Definitely true. For my first time, I jumped into HPDE without autox. Learning the car in a different setting for sure, and it's could be set up with more HPDE type setting, have volunteer instructors and such. Therefore minimizing people driving outside of their ability. Autox is def safer to organize. Maybe both? :p May be able to set up both at Road Atlanta?

Hehehehe.
