new mortor build idea?
so i hear the new wrx sti are using the same port inject method as our fa20 engines... queston is would we be able to use the 2015 sti block with our fa20 head? sounds like a Frankenstein (k24vtec) build but if its possible il would def do it! i wanna get the most power i can from n/a.. plz comment thanks

How does the engine sharing the port fuel injection (which it doesn't) make any of the block parts compatible?
Last I saw the next STI will use the same engine as the current STI (EJ25) while the next WRX will have the FA20DIT which is a pure direction injection (not split port/direct injection like we have) engine.

All in good fun.
Kidding aside, it will be interesting to see what kind of cross platforming we can do. Interested to see what fits and what is an "upgrade". I liked taking the LS7 manifold and putting it on my LS1 Camaro. Easy power gain. |

for the price of a 2015 sti motor, I'm sure a fully built short block from one of the vendors would come out way cheaper...

2015 WRX STi is a EJ25, 2015 WRX (non-STi) is a FA20DIT.
(A) Source: http://www.caradvice.com.au/subaru/wrx/ I'd say by the time you'd bought the FA20DIT and modified it to fit, you'd probably have spent enough to rebuild and turbocharge your NA FA20 (and made more power and depending on the shop and parts, made it more reliable). |
