I brought home an FRS yesterday and I noticed that while at low RPMs (Between 1,000-2,000) the car sounds very diesel engine like, is that normal? Almost sounds like a heatshield rattle. Once its above the fisrt thousand RPMs the engine sings like a gas engine would

Oh, my! You didn't buy THAT one did you .....

Yep, I've heard that sound before ...... from folks that bought an FR-S that had been "abused" by the hot doggers at the port ..... and then further abused by the "fast & furious" men at the dealership......

It's caused by constant red line when the car has less than 5 miles on it ..... indicating the wrist pins on the rods are about to give way. But they don't because the rod bearings usually spin first.

Not to worry about your safety ...... since it's a flat, pancake type engine, when it blows the parts of the crankcase and what's left of the rods .... blow out the side.

....... ...... I would hope not ......

About the engine noise at low rpms; since it's a new engine, it's probably just getting limbered up..... not to worry.

Besides, these aren't the quietest engines on the planet....

Welcome to FR-S ownership!

Well, ...... .... GT862jz.

What part of CT are you from? I lived in Newtown and worked in Westport for 7 years ..... beautiful state!

The FR-S is rather transparent..... what you see and feel, is what you get. It has shown to be a relatively economical, dependable and just a bunch of fun to drive.

Hello! My name is Nichole and I bought my new 2014 FR-S about a month ago. I just hit 1K miles yesterday I live near Universal Studios in Orlando so if you see me in my sexy black beast please say hi!

I used to own an EP3, traded that in for an S2K...got in an accident then bought myself an Evo. I traded my Evo for a boring eco-friendly car because I lived so far from work, but I told myself I will buy myself a nice car once I move closer to work so here I am 2 years later...I am so excited about the FR-S and cannot wait to meet a few of you

Hey hi hello & what's up everyone

The name is Joe and i'm not from next door!
From overseas actually, i'm from Belgium, that tiny little thing with good chocolate & great waffles, right in between "le pays de la langue d'amour" --> France and that other one where smoking weed and such is legal --> Netherlands!

Anyway, i've been the proud owner of a Raven Toyota GT86 for little over a week now and have already ordered some parts from this forum!
Comming from a diesel hatchback corolla E12 it is quite a difference driving this GT86
But you won't hear me complaining!

Grtz from Belgium!
