I didn't even think of sending it up to the dome lights. Agreed that it isn't necessary. Also, neither of us know if these statements apply to the connector on the dome or not since we haven't tried it. If you do it, post your findings for the next person who comes along. Would probably be helpful to those who don't have the power mirror I would imagine.

Are all of you using the MirrorTap in conjunction with the Homelink mirror? I'm trying to figure out if this works with the standard mirror. Thanks!

To answer your question, I do have the homelink mirror (I didn't have a choice when I bought the car, the dealer put them on all of them to make you buy them).

I don't think the standard mirror has power, but if it does then you absolutely can do this. Just look at the back and see if there are any wires plugging into the mirror, then its just as simple plugging it in.

Alternatively I'm guessing that the plug we are using for our homelink mirrors is in the roof liner if you don't have it installed, you could just run the mirror tap into the liner directly, however you'd need to get a proper length cable from them.

The standard mirror isn't powered, but the harness is in the headliner of the car. I'm trying to figure out if it's powered without being connected to a mirror. Guess I'll have to get out the multi-meter this weekend and find out

Do you think this cord would work just as well as the (overpriced IMO) MirrorTap?

I can't justify paying 30 bucks for a cord like that, after I'll have to already pay a hefty price for a blendmount.

I'm using that same cord as well as their mount. Works well.

What detector you using? I got a 9500ix, so hoping I won't have any power reset issues with that cord, I assume not. Also, I noticed the pins look smaller than the mirrorTap kind, does it plug in snug to the pin holes, is it secure just plugging it in?

I have a 9500ix also. The pins seem more like tinned wire ends from my recollection. I had doubts about the security of the wire staying in place so I zip tied everything together...the wire is strapped to the home link mirror wire and those together are strapped to the mirror post. No issues with the power staying on.

Awesome, thanks for the reply, I think I'll order that one. Even if the MirrorTap variety plugs in more securely, I can zip tie the wires to save almost 20 bucks.
