I guess I should have explained my statement a little better. I'm not in denial whatsoever. I know we're everywhere around the globe trying to spread our influence, and I disagree with it. When I said that "America is not the world police", I was voicing the opinion that we shouldn't be wasting our time, money, and lives trying to keep everyone in order to our standards.

That seems to be Obama's foreign policy. With the re-focus on the Pacific to still contain China, but also relying more on allies such as Japan (relocating a bunch of Marines from Okinawa to Guam, or something) and Taiwan more. China can't really do to much with their terrible navy and the geography around them lets the US choke them off pretty much at will with minimal risk.

The whole China in Africa thing isn't really a huge issue because of general instability there. Africans like Chinese money, though, because it doesn't come with human-rights strings attached, and they are well versed in bribery and corruption. So while China can make some gains, they won't be able to respond to (rather perpetual and violent) unfavourable local changes, unlike the US.

Plus China is bleeding money like crazy since the economic crisis, and facing rising internal strife.

USA, still king of the hill. And will be for some time still...

In any case, the cause brings awareness to a single problem (person), while there are thousands of worldwide issues that could probably be brought to light just as important. You gotta start somewhere though.

As someone who's father is from uganda and who's aunt was actually taken from the LRA when she was 10 (thankfuly we got her back), I say this KONY 2012 stuff is bullshit. Nobody has cared about sub-saharan africa except africans ever. Nobody's gonna care now because some video.

did you know that the Sahara desert alone is only a few thousand square kilometers off at consuming all of the united states?
