Just ordered my 17x9 +35 Silver RPF1s.... now for tires....

I really dig the nitto nt05 ...but my size options are 235/40 235/45 ... I was hoping for some 245s... any suggestions/thoughts from my fellow Az 86ers ?

If you want some more in-depth reading about Mobil 1 in Subaru engines, check out the oil analysis threads on the BITOG forums. Mobil 1 generally does the "worst" (no modern oil is truly bad, it's just not as good). Motul tends to have the best reports.

How many miles do you put on the car, and how long would you like the tires to last. For a street tire that is suitable for track use, it's hard to beat the BFG Rivals. The Dunlop Z2 will last a bit longer, but might be prone to overheating during long track sessions, depending on your driving style. The Rival is also an incredibly forgiving tire to drive, making it a great learner's tire (that's why I'm getting another set of them this weekend). RS3s are great too, but they're going to be out of stock for a couple months. RE-11a is fast, but kinda vague feedback, and prone to similar overheating problems as the Z2. Pilot Super Sports are a great daily tire and reasonably grippy, but I don't think they'd do as well at the track, because they have a tendency to snap free rather than slide, due to the way their compound is staggered.

That's about all I can tell you from personal experience.

I drive about 9k miles a year. How long would I like it to last? Forever..but I expect to go through a set of tires in a year if I'm also attending track.

Think Im going to go ahead and start out on the NT05 235's. They should be a good square setup for my dual use. Now teh question is 40 or 45 height... so many decisions!

If you go to anyone regarding tires, this guy knows where its at. I refer to him as "Tire God".

9k miles plus some hard track use is about right for any of the 200tw tires I mentioned. I would go with the 40 sidewall personally. Gearing doesn't matter as much for track use and you'll get slightly better acceleration.

If you're looking for a limited spoiler in WRB I'll consider doing a trunk swap with you if your paint is in good shape. My trunk is perfect and has CQuartz Finest on it so it'll stay nice for a long time.

$150 on your end and you'll save yourself the cost of repainting a silver one.

Whelp, time to go a different route with the car as the mod bug has bitten me. The Innovate Supercharger is going to be for sale along with injectors, pump and a few other things. I would rather sell locally so I don't have to ship. If anyone is interested pm me for details.
