i honestly really only wear vans, or my ugg boots in winter (not not the feminine looking uggs).

however this summer i did the 24hrs of lemons and was forced to buy all fire proof FIA gear, i love driving in the hightop racing shoes, but they are a bit too ridiculous to wear in public...

a friend of mine recently started a clothing company that actually addresses cloths for enthusiasts. its not expensive, looks nice and most importantly its quality and feels great. they are releasing more colors soon, but the shoes are damn comfy.

http://racinglineusa.com

i'm not trying to pitch a brand because i don't get anything out of it, but i've bought it and enjoy it and its not expensive. IMO piloti's aren't anything special, i personally didn't really like them, or how they look.

From the Piloti site:

The new Piloti collection is available in the US, Canada, and Europe.
You will be able to place orders through retailers and distributors throughout North America and Europe.
Contact info will be posted in the new year, and product will be available for the spring/summer of 2014.
Coming soon, you will be able to enter your zip code or postal code to find a Piloti retailer nearest you.
For immediate inquiries please contact us at piloti.info@piloti.com

Now that I think about it, I read something last year that suggested that Piloti may have been financially "re-organizing" or some such thing, and so everyone's inventory was running out.

They're shoes, not cars, so that doesn't concern me since warranty is unlikely to be an issue.

The above quote from their site indicates they're in the process of stocking up and their shoes should become available within a few months. If you can wait, and make do with your Converse for the time being, you might be glad you did.

I use "boater shoes" regularly, but I've worn cowboy boots as seen in the picture and I've worn combat boots as well. I'd say the boater shoes and nike free runs are the best. I like barefoot driving the best.

I want to buy some Nike Hyperfeels that look comfortable.

My converse were KILLING my heels after a few days. As in, when I walked I was slightly limping from the soreness in the back of my left ankle.

I'm going to go by the Puma outlet store and see if they have the global rallycross sneakers. Those are inexpensive ($40), and will do for a few months until I can get the nice Traziones.

Nike Fit runners are good.
Adidas indoor soccer shoes are pretty good too.

Hit up a puma at a premium outlet mall... usually can be had for ~$50.

For day to day, I just wear lightweight, thin-soled shoes. Canvas shoes of various sorts typically work well. Heck, I'll wear TOMS (not the fashionable shoe variety) during the summer. Keds-style shoes are usually my go to but having no rolled heel has its comfort limitations.

I like driving in my Sperrys, they give pretty good feel. My skate shoes have a bit of a thick sole, so while they are super comfortable, they don't give great feedback. My Clark desert boots have great soles, I love the feel they give while driving, but they sometimes are just a little to big for comfort. First time I drove in them I nearly stalled out when the edges unexpectedly sort of caught on each other.

Never liked driving barefoot... It just doesn't feel that nice to me, and I feel like I always have my feet sort of perched in odd ways. Sounds like I should maybe give a set of Pumas a shot though.

I would wear my Tods slippers as driving shoes more often if I could heel-toe with them. Sadly they're too narrow for me to reach both pedals at once. It's a shame because they give great pedal feel.

I've got 6 or 7 pair of Pilotis, half of them are Spyders. Love them. Luckily I stocked up at various sales over the last few years before the company went under. Glad to hear they are making a comeback.
