It's not the exterior of the Civic that I have a problem with, it is that weird two tiered dash that turns me off. That and RWD = fun. The only things that I have to say for the Civic is that it has a larger interior and trunk and VTEC sounds way better than the FA20. Although I am comparing the FA20 to the K20A3 from the DC5 (aka Acura RSX), I'm not sure about the newest Civic.

Because Civic Si has been bashed by so many enthusiasts and media. It's not just because I think it's ugly. Yes, it's a subjective matter. But some cars have reputation for being ugly. |

The Civic's today are simply nothing like they used to be. Now they are within 95% the size/weight of a Honda Accord from 15-20 years ago. Honda needs to change the name of the Fit, redesigned it, and begin doing to it what they did to Civic's in the mid '80's through the 2000 model year(pumping up the HP, making Si models).
I've owned a '92, '93 and a '00 Si. Until Honda returns to making Civic's like they used to I do not foresee myself ever owning one again. The ones I had were spectacular though in reliability and fun factor(both of which are diminishing over the years). |

FR-S vs Civic SI
Wait...what the hell is going on with these last couple posts? Are we BMW drivers now? I seriously thought I had clicked on the M3forum icon instead of the ft86 one on tapatalk :/. What is it with the elitist attitude?

i'm trading in my 2011 Civic Si Coupe for a FRS/ BRZ in the next couple of days. Ive owned the Si for about 3 years. Prior to that i owned a 2008 Civic LX for 3 years also. The Si is a great car. The big reason i'm switching is that i've always wanted a true sports car. The car has great fuel economy, excellent resale value, looks good, handles well and is ok to DD. Even in the winter! Slap some All Seasons or Winters on and you shouldn't have a problem.
The best things about the Si are reliability, practicality and space. There's nothing wrong with the Si i have and i've completely enjoyed the experience. I've wanted an FRS/BRZ since they were rumoured and i've decided to pull the trigger. These are a few of the reasons why i'm moving into one of the twins and trading in my Si My car-use background: I only put about 40-50,000km on my vehicles before i end up trading them in. I've only used the Si a couple of times to transport large items over the last 3 years. I have access to an SUV so i use that for moving things around. i also VERY RARELY use the rear seats for passengers. Maybe once every month or two. Reasons to change (personal): I justified the decision to get and FRS/BRZ because 1:I'm young, 2: i don't have maybe people to drive around. 3: i wanted a true sports car, 4: i'm getting engaged in the next 6 months. Thought i'd get one now before my future wife has anything to say about it i would highly recommend checking out 8thcivic.com. A majority of the members are extremely friendly there and would probably give you a lot of insight as to why they have chosen the Si over the FRS/BRZ. Regardless of the decision you make, you can't go wrong with either! Best of luck to you! |
