I actually like that measurement. It would help reduce the "will my wheels clear this" question. Offset excluded.

It really doesn't even do that because of spoke design

And I'd rather have real measurements myself..

Oh by the way, if it's really 93RON, that's only 89 in the US :O Higher compression pistons + 91 AKI? Wait a minute, I just realized, why does the US have such low octane gas available? Most countries don't have gas lower than 93 or so...

That's it. In the UK I was used to putting 97/99 RON in my cars and here in California you see 91 R+M/2 (AKI) as the top-end option.

I've read the different calculation formulas involved so it makes less unsense to me then it did, but still I just pick the highest one I see on the pumps and figure that is the best I can do. Eventhough apparently Cali's 91 equals only about 95 RON.

91 mostly around here. Have to drive to the super-rich cities (Pasadena, San Marino, affluent areas in LA) to get anything higher.

91 = premium. If only I could get 87 lolz.

My options are 87, 89, and 93. I don't have 91. So the question is 89 or 93? LOL

Im always shocked to see that people are willing to sacrifice such a given circumstance of buying a performance car.

Why dont you guys eat Ramen for every meal and just take multi-vitamins, youll save boatloads and still get all your nutrition right? I mean your blood will keep pumping so its gotta be alright. hahaha

20 cents more is a lot to pay per gallon, especially for a car that is in the $25k range.

This isn't a big gas-hungry SUV with a 50gal tank. 20 cents more per gallon is just $2 per fill up. So, what, $4 per month? Seems like a small price to be sure your engine is working as it should. As I said before, the difference in gas is pocket change, the cost of an engine is not.

Also, it's very likely that with lower grade gas you will actually see mileage DROP. So some of that savings will go out your exhaust pipe anyways.

If someone can't afford $4 per month, they can't afford to maintain the car. In all honesty, it would be better for them to buy a used Miata and put the money saved in payments towards proper fuel and maintenance.

At 12000 miles per year and 25 miles per gallon, the 20 cents extra per gallon is only $96 per year, which is $8 per month.

Here's the calculation:

(miles per year) * 1/(miles per gallon) * (extra dollars per gallon) = (extra dollars per year)

So in the example: 12,000 miles/year *1/(25 miles/gallon) *($0.20/gallon) = $96 per year extra with premium fuel.

So you are willing to spend $25,000 on an unnecessary, impractical sports car, and then proceed to put a lesser fuel in than required (which will degrade performance of the car), to save $8 per month?

Also, if gas was $2.00 per gallon, the extra $0.20 cost for premium fuel is 10% of the cost of the fuel. At $4.00 per gallon, the $0.20 premium is only %5 extra cost for the fuel. So as gas prices rise, the 'extra pain' of putting premium fuel gets less and less.

Can you see why others have said that if you can't afford premium fuel, you can't afford to buy the car? It's being penny-wise and pound-foolish. Especially in a car that is supposed to make you want to actually use the horsepower it comes with. The math doesn't lie.
