They definitely rub without the above mentioned modifications. Camber is -2 all the way around. Ride height, I'm really not sure. I would need to measure it. I honestly wouldn't mind lowering it another 5-7mm just for aesthetics.

You looking at adding some boost soon to push all that meat? Looking at your past rides I suspect you must have plans for that.

I'm looking for examples of 235/45/17 - tough to find. I like the look of the extra sidewall.

yeah i doubt you'll find it in this thread, 235 isn't exactly meaty.

however if anyone puts OEM 2011+ wrx wheels/tires on their frs then it'll look the same. actually if you go to my build thread you will see how that exact setup looks, i had it for a few weeks.

Has anyone felt a huge difference in gearing and acceleration when upgrading to 255's? Road and track tested a fr-s with wider 235/40/18 dunlop direzza tires (about 2 mph difference in speed from OEM) and saw that the tire setup negatively affected lap times over the 215/45/17 direzza tires.

It kinda makes me think that 255's or wider, and 18 inch wheels are unnecessary for a stock car. any input is much appreciated.

Here is the Road and Track Video as reference: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_IWa_qlt3g"]2013 Scion FR-S - YouTube[/ame]

Well they definitely aren't necessary but they can improve handling. Their plus size setup recorded higher speeds in the slalom. That said, I'm putting 215/40-17's on mine so I don't belong in here! Haha

I guess it's better handling for the sake of overall acceleration, unless you upgrade the gearing in the transmission. I'm also going to stick with 215's also. I think 245/40/17 are best if you want to have more grip without effecting gearing as much.

I don't think anyone argued that their wide wheel & meaty tire setup was breaking any lap records. lol.

Yes, you will see a slight decrease in overall acceleration and mpg's as a result of the extra rotational mass.

Also, (been a long while since I watched that vid) I think the lap time on the 235's was just slightly slower than the 215's. Lateral grip increased iirc as well. With that being said, yes, 18 inch wheels and 255+ tires ARE unnecessary and probably unreasonable for this car under stock power. Not every mod needs to need an explanation. It's my car. lol.

Still looks awesome. Having grip for days is a blast.
