Ill post some of my peeling in a few hours after work.
I tried to have it replaced at 2 Toyota dealers but they saw i had scratched the bottom of the wheel myself and i got sent away.
It has peeled in 2 places at about 2 and 3 o clock on the wheel.

I said sod it and im replacing it with a works bell hub, NRG quick release and a Momo drifitng wheel in red.

Mine has started peeling as well at the 4 o'clock position.

I purposely make sure i wash my hands before driving, I don't wear rings, and use good leather products to clean the wheel.

one thing that annoys me is this. FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!

That should be warranty. I have a 01 PT Cruiser that I bought the 5/50,000 extended warranty on and my steering wheel started to peel at 47,000 miles and they replaced it, no questions asked. I can't believe the 'wear and tear' BS. I'd call corporate office if dealer won't replace it.

What the?!? I would have been at the dealer at the first sign of that kind of premature peeling. That's horrible!

This happened on a couple of cars I've driven with leather steering wheels including a 91 LS400, 90 325i, 06 IS250 so it's not just isolated to our "cheap" cars. Looks like its just the paint peeling. Maybe some of us have very acidic sweat that the paint doesn't like.

There shouldn't be any paint on a leather steering wheel...

It's probably just due to the type of leather that Subaru/Toyota is using. Cheap stuff.

Now that I see the pictures, this is a defective manufacturing process, or as stated earlier, cheap material sourcing and should be covered under warranty. This is unacceptable and should not be happening in such a short time.
There should be some resistance to everyday chemicals that humans come into contact with...

Do you use hand sanitizer? My moms Jetta had a peeling wheel after a few years.. Pretty sure that's what caused her problem.
