Can you give me a quick and dirty answer on how/why it can affect rasp? Can it eliminate rasp or only cause/change it?

I've been having my work done mostly at RevWorks, not sure why they wouldn't mention it would eliminate this issue since they've been unable to solve this issue for me either.

I've had tune done on a 370Z and a Corvette C6, and neither of them have changed the exhaust note *AT ALL*. So this is completely new to me if it's true.

It also sounds like your daughter has a completely different setup from mine.

You talk about "throwing money at parts" but that's exactly what I'd be doing getting a tune done without knowing it'd get rid of the rasp or not.

Okay, thanks for the help!

Why would RevWorks not of mentioned this once to me in all my visits/discussions?

I used to daily drive (100 miles + a day) a mustang gt with a carless x pipe (all 4 cats deleted) and flow master 40's (1 step quitter then their loudest 10 series single chamber mufflers). I loved how the car sounded, and could tolerate the drone to a degree, but it was so much that I always had to yell at my fiancé sitting next to me, and I could barely talk on the phone.

Is your setup like that, or just a little drone?
Just a bit under that. Your back window will vibrate some but I drove with my fiance today and didn't have to yell. Still loud, but refined. Not near as bad as a catless V8.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have them try the OEM Front/down pipe with my current setup, and if that gets rid of the rasp, I'll have them put back on the Nameless axelback, and then just call it a day.

I'm going to go with a q300 with titanium burned tips, hemholtz resonated & HFC Nameless fp/op, & headers.

Aren't uel's inherently raspy? I don't think I've ever heard one that wasn't at least a bit raspy. Maybe on a completely stock exhaust.

No, they aren't. Plenty or WRX's out there with no rasp. Same with the 86.

The exhaust note on my buell and my old e36 after tuning. You probably wouldn't even notice it if wasn't your vehicle, but it does happen.

I had the nameless axle back installed before the fp/op came in. When I got around to installing the fp/op the exhaust got marginally louder at wot and quieter at cruise with far less drone. I think you are wasting your time with the front pipe. The muffler and resonator make the biggest difference in volume, tone and rasp on this car.

Honestly surprised you still have rasp. The revworks and JDL shouldn't be all that different and we have the same frontpipe. Maybe it's the header itself? Try wrapping it? I don't know man. My car sounds pretty tame with the Perrin exhaust.

Well, I solved the rasp. Switched back to the stock Over and down pipes. We tried that with the combination of the Perrin exhaust, and it was just way too tame, plus I'm not super fond of the sound of the Perrin exhaust in general.

Switched over to the Nameless axelback + stock midpipe, and to my ears it sounds perfect now. No rasp, no drone, and it's still pretty damn loud when you get on it. I would of liked to squeeze out a bit more power, and I'm sure there's another combination that would of been better suited for accomplishing this without creating an insane amount of noise, but I didn't want to spend any more time/money experimenting with my setup.

So now I have to sell a Nameless Downpipe, and the Perrin Resonated exhaust. I guess you'll see a FS post from me soon.
