Today I dented my "skid plate" or whatever they call that metal shroud under the engine. Was using an unpaved turnout in totally shit visibility (thick fog and completely flat light) and found the ground was lumpier than I thought. Fuck you, rocks!

Looks like its just the plate that's dinged though, so that's good news. Remind me to never consider rallycrossing this car, lol.

Also had an odd experience on the mountain road I was on-- just as I was coming to the place where I was going to turn around, I encountered a big white SUV stopped dead in the middle of the road-- no flashers running, no turn signals, just stopped right in the middle doing nothing. There was really thick fog, so I wasn't sure if they were going to just sit there waiting for the fog to burn off or what. Anyway, I signalled left and went to pull onto this dirt turnoff and noticed as I pulled around the SUV that it was full of teenage girls and that there was a girl in the back seat with her window open, who was completely turned around and looking right at me as I pulled up. I thought maybe their car was broken or they wanted to warn me of something that had happened further up the road, or-- I don't know, something?-- so I stopped and put my window down and said, "Hi," expecting this girl to be like, "We're lost, can you tell us where the road went?" or, "Be careful of the group of marathon-running midgets in grey sweaters just up the road-- they're hard to see in the fog," or, "Hey, I think your car is going to dent its skid plate when you try and turn around on that dirt pull-out-- you should creep across it extra-slowly." Instead the girl just kept staring at me and sort of awkwardly said hello back and all the other girls in the car turned and looked at me and giggled and / or gave me weird looks. I was like, "Uh, what are you all up to?" and they just kept staring at me awkwardly so I just waved, turned around, and headed back down the mountain. Is it just me, or do you guys usually assume when traffic is stopped and someone puts a window down and leans out of it staring right at you, that they might be wanting to ask you something? v0v I was like, "OK, then... No midgets ahead? Off I go!"

So about 11:15pm I grabbed my bottle of ONR and went to work. The wife and kids were in bed. I grabbed my iphone and headphones and opened up the garage door. I turned on Enya's greatest hits. Yup a grown man Enya and his car. Oh and beer. I have now seen Jesus. Storms in Africa came on and it all just felt right.

Try it people. It's soothing, relaxing, and beautiful. Beer is awesome!

What a n00b... it's not a toilet. Clearly they are exhaust bearings.

They were awaiting their next victim in the dense fog.

Their intention was to create a panic braking situation for an approaching driver with the hope of seeing him spin and crash.

Exactly.

Why do you suppose she was watching you so closely?

She was the "lookout"; her job is to signal the SUV driver to "GO!" if the panicked victim skidding towards the SUV appears about to hit the girls' SUV. The SUV driver will abruptly accelerate forward to avoid any contact. Without contact there is little evidence that could subsequently be used against the teenagers engaged in this vicious criminal "game."

Sit with that for a while, my friends...
