I could be wrong but I believe it's Aero. The smoother you can make the front end of the car with less "openings", the less drag it'll create at speed.

Because the bumper sags... triple digit speeds or taking off your bumper will do it. Only takes you doing it once.

And the soju/beer.

When do I get to collect the soju/beer?

I'm totally serious.

Have you seen any signs of OEM components beginning to crack or that are likely to require reinforcement for significant track work - with or without the addition of:

increased power
R-comps
cage/rollbar
stiff springs and/or bars
– hard/solid motor/transmission mounts, suspension bushings/bearings
tracks where the line requires significant use of med-to-high curbs, and
anything else that contributes to placing serious stress on the chassis?

In that context, how many track days are on the car(s) whose chassis you've had eyes on that lead to your observations?

I'm considering this car as an occasional DD/track toy, and would be coming from a professionally-built and maintained early-00s Grand-Am racecar that I've been using for open lapping, time trials, and occasional instruction.

At present, I'm in the process of determining what the running costs will be to prep and maintain one of the twins, and have found your posts to be a wealth of useful information. Thanks!

I plan on buying a set of either Bilstein B14 or KW V1's. I plan on doing 1-3 track events a year. Do these coilovers handle better than OEM? Also, at what ride height can you lower the car before handling diminishes?

They will perform better than OEM, but don't slam the car. The lower you go, the less compression travel you have. Drop based on the spring rate you choose.

Because a lot of S2000 owners cannot handle the stock willingness to rotate.

Not yet, but the platform hasn't been around long enough to really determine this.

Either our car or Robispec's car has seen the most seat time, and neither have the failures you are concerned about, yet. We've only run tires up to 100TW, but Robi's car has seen Hoosier A6. The AutoX cars I follow have also ran Hoosiers, and have not had weld failures.

Replacing rubber with delrin/sphericals/poly is always good though
