Yeah it's a new redesigned pump. He's going to call me in a couple hours with details on the new part and how long they'll have my car.

Ya I don't get it. I hear the same thing all the time. Yet, I used Petro 94 and was getting really loud chirps then switched back to Esso 91 and chirps are gone again. Apparently the Petro 94 has ethanol yet others say they have no problems with it.

Im just telling you what the tech told me. I asked if they were putting the same part in. And he's said they're just now recalling them and that they have a completely new pump so it won't be the same one.

I'm still here, he showed me the new part number. And said only cars within a certain vin range get the new one. The 2013's will still get the same replacement.

Once you get the repair/work order, we'd love to see the new part number

I'm curious to what the vin range is too...

Yeah I didn't think to right down the new part # when he showed me. They're probably going to have my car a week apparently so when I get it a copy of everything il post it up.

Techs know how to follow directions and install parts, but when it comes to knowledge, they have been very wrong in the past (like when they bent a mounting bracket installing a supercharger in my old tC--long story). So I still have my doubts.

If that's really the case, then prepare for an onslaught of "calling bullshit."

People can call whatever they want. I'm not Toyota. Not my words to dispute.

Not saying you are the responsible party, but I'd be dubious of anything coming out of a tech's mouth due to my previous experience. Unless there was solid proof. And like I said, I hope you are wrong that 2013 models would be left out of any "recall" of the fuel pump.

Yeah someone might want to confirm that with another dealer. I don't know if it's true or not.
