Ice Racing the BRZ on Super Studs [video] - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I got the opportunity to try super studs (aka bolt tires) on the ice this weekend, and it was a blast! I might have to get my own set for next year.

The tires weren't heavily studded (yet), but still provided amazing grip!

That looks awesome. Great exercise in self control too as it seems like over driving would cost a lot of time.

Yeah its a ton of fun! Being on the ice can seem sketchy (especially when it spider cracks right beneath you!) but it was safe. As long as you drill before you play you'll be reasonably safe. We had 17+ inches of solid ice

It rained a bit overnight so day two was less organized and more just for fun. I had to give the studs back for day two, but it was still a blast. We setup a skid pad and I played on that for a good while. Definitely an exercise in discipline!

Another BRZ showed up for day two! We had a fun time chancing each other around the course for several laps.

Malletts Bay on Lake Champlain. Just north of Burlington, VT.
