The highest you can go given you have the octane to support it the better. The higher the compression the more responsive and efficient. I would choose high compression and low boost, over low compression and high boost on a street car.

so what is the most ideal situation?

High CR engine + low boost
Low CR engine + high boost

Preference. Depends on where you want your power band and how smooth you want/need the power.

High CR, High boost, small turbo, as long as turbo can get there and still be efficient.

Going to be 9000x more fun to drive, compared to low CR, big turbo, any boost level.

Unless all you do is drag racing / highway pulls.

My 2c.

Wiseco, Mahle, CP, JE pretty much any of them are a good choice, just have to see who has specific fitments.

I think full blown uses Arias pistons. Are those good?

Haven't heard much about Arias pistons, but from what @FullBlown uses, it's quality stuff.

I've used Arias in a few of my honda builds awhile back...never any issues making 700+whp.

We have been using Arias Pistons in many different platforms for a long time. The guys over there are top notch and know how to build a hell of a piston.

Most of their stuff is custom tailored to what you need. We tell them how much boost, and power we expect to make and they design the piston around our needs.

The pistons we get are not " off the shelf " piston.

Everything changes when you add direct injection.
It allows much more scr and boost than port injection alone.
Lot of guys disable di, but keeping will allow for much better fueling control. Specially ad mid rpm / peak torque area.

These engines have nothing to do with the EJ and what worked there doesnt mean its the way to go here.

The new WRX has 10.6:1 and its di only and turbo from factory, so I dont see any reason to go lower.

IMHO of course
