I'm not, just throwing what I wrote as a word of warning. I've run plenty of sweepstakes and giveaways in official capacities before (both within a state as well as across state lines), and the requirement to pay to meet contest rules (even if fully refunded afterwards) constitutes gambling in the eyes of law enforcement.
Just letting you (and the forum) know. -alex |

mav1178 is actually right. I really appreciate what the vendor is trying to do, and applaud them for it. but you've got to be very careful with these sweepstakes laws.
however, I am in.

By entering rules that should be governed by the government. You and I are not free to set any rules we choose, especially if it involves multiple entrants across state lines. I personally don't care for your rules, I am just stating that the requirement for full payment to be made on the item runs afoul of many laws regulating gambling. Just because it's been done before doesn't mean it's legal. Did you even consult a lawyer when you set this up? I did for my contests, and one of the things that a lawyer will tell you is that a random drawing (sweepstakes) cannot have a payment part of it. The winner is responsible for all taxes associated with the winnings (ARV over $1000 should be provided a 1099-MISC for tax purposes), but again there should be no need to pay to enter. Quote:
My post is meant to shed light on this. You guys can run the contest all you want, and if this constitutes a ban on my part then there are bigger underlying issues here. -alex |

@mav1178 put forward some applicable, valuable info, which the OP should be thankful for. He definitely shouldn't be reprimanded for doing so.

As for the OP: http://contests.about.com/od/sweepst...recontests.htm http://contests.about.com/od/3/g/amo...-amoe-mean.htm http://contests.about.com/od/c/g/consideration.htm http://contests.about.com/od/sweepst...llquestion.htm http://contests.about.com/od/sweepstakeslaws/ I have no idea what Oklahoma law is like, I am merely posting this for sake of clarity. Give away all the free product you want, there just shouldn't be any type of payment tied to this. -alex |

No.
There will be 1 winner drawn. That winner will pay a $1199 refundable deposit, which will be refunded upon posting of a public review, by said winner. The whole point of us giving away free product, is we simply want a member review of the product for the general members to view. This is meant to be a very simple process. |

There's nothing to sign. Your response of entry in this thread is acceptance of the terms.
If you don't agree to the terms, don't enter. I'm floored at the push back being encountered. I'm offering you a $1200 product for 30 minutes worth of your time writing a review. Guys, it's that black and white. Don't over complicate this. |
